Poll: Which Non IFC/PHC GLOS have chapter Houses?

Which GLOs at your school outside IFC and Panhellenic have chapter houses?

We have four:

Alpha Gamma Omega (Christian Fr.)
Alpha Delta Chi (Christian So.)
Nu Alpha Kappa (Latino Fr. (Incidently, they're in our old house of 20+ yrs))
Gamma Phi Epsilon (Multicultural Fr. (House is in Greek Circle, lucky guys)

A house next to Theta all has members of another Latino Frat, but they can't put their letters up or refer to it as a chapter house, but I believed the house used to belong to Alpha Gamma Delta before they closed).

ETA: Greek alums predict that in 5-8 yrs, ALL social GLOs; 15 IFC frats, 10 Panhellenic sororities, and 13 Cultural GLOs will all have a chapter house in some form or another (No word on NPHC, plus two more Latina sororities just colonized this Spring).

Delta Omicron has houses at some chapters.

My chapter has had one on and off, but we haven't had an "official" house for probably 10 - 15 years.

At IU, there is a Kappa Alpha Psi house, on 17th Street near North Jordan. (where most of the Greek houses are) However, no one has lived there since 1995. Although KAPsi still exists at IU, there are only 8 active brothers in the chapter currently. (according to the chapter website) The house is pretty big (31 bedrooms) plus it needs lots of renovation and stuff. AFAIK, it's been empty since 1995.

Evans Scholars, which is considered a fraternity but is not in the NIC, has a house on North Jordan but I don't think anyone is there either. I don't even know if the chapter is active anymore.

APO does not and will never have a house...we're forbidden from having one in our national bylaws.

The only non IFC/NPC chapter at the University of Nebraska is Alpha Gamma Nu. They do have a chapter house on Nebraska's East Campus.

I always forget that they are a local. I guess it's because even though they are a local, they have been in existence for 50 years, which I know is a long time for a local. Also, I sometimes equate local with negative things, like horrible hazing, short lifespans and bad exposure for Greeks (for examples see: MTV's Fraternity/Sorority Life). But AGN hasn't ever been anything like that, and while we don't hear about them very often, I've never heard anything bad about them. The one AGN I know is a really nice guy...

We only have two chapters with houses at SIUE. Alpha Phi Alpha has the one house that is actually located on campus. Sig Ep's is about 2 miles away in town.

Not anyone that I know of outside IFC/CPC has a house at Iowa State.

I know that I've seen at least one up at William and Mary, I think it might be Alpha Kappa Alpha.

And there's a house in Portsmouth with Kappa Alpha Psi letters on it... The only weird thing is that it's no where near a campus. The only college in Portsmouth is a community college, so I'm guessing that it might be a house for Norfolk State.

Funny, I was on my way to a family event in Los Angeles, and passing in a very metro area, and in the middle of apartment complexes and strip malls was a Kappa Alpha Psi house (and there also is no college in the general area).

I'd imagine though that it would be somewhat acceptable to have a house not even near your campus. If you just want a place to hang out and gather as brothers as opposed to a place to get drunk, be as loud as possible, and break everything, a house in a residential area would be ok.

They were most likely Alumni Chapter Houses. I believe that in NPHC organizations, it is more common for grad chapters to own properties such as houses for meetings and events.

I think that house is up near Crenshaw.
And to add, our main Los Angeles graduate chapter has a house near USC which is used for meetings and conducting business.

When I was a student at USC -- this was around 1985 or so, if memory serves -- Kappa Alpha Psi did have a Row house for a little while.

If you remember what it looks like, is it a small, dark house that looks exactly like a residential home except above their door on the roof is a small Crimson and Cream 3X5 sign that has the Kappa letters on it?

Yes, that's it. Right north of I-10. I've passed it many a time.

Not bad a description for a 5 second glance while half asleep, eh?

I guess that's what greek letters do to you.

Now that we have all of the D9 except Iota on campus (one new Nupe, one new Que, and 8 Sigmas over the last yr), they should make a bid for housing as well.

As of last year the Evans Scholars were still around and kickin'...I went to a party at their house with some of the Thetas.

As for my school, all national GLOs have houses and a few locals do as well.
