has anyone tried this??

Someone just told me today that she lost 12 pounds in 6 weeks by simply drinking two glasses of water with vinegar in them a day. Has anyone tried this?? Does it actually work?? I'm hoping so....I'm ODing on pickles (got the big jar from costco) and drinking lots of warm water with vinegar!!!!

ETA: I've also noticed that when I'm hungry, if I drink it, I'm no longer hungry. Hmm....

negative ghostwriter... don't do it. you'll burn your insides not to mention is it NASTY!!!

if you want to lose weight, drink at least 64 fl oz of water a day, watch your carbs, eat your protein, and only snack on healthy stuff

thats a good point - whenever youre tempted to snack - drink a BIG glass of water first, it will fill you up and make you less hungry

That just sounds disgusting.

Girl, drop those pickles! They are really high in sodium.

I would suggest plain old H2O! Vinegar - pee-ew! You'll end up scaring away all those hotties!

Agreed... stick with plain old water.

A lot of people are so chronically dehydrated that they mistake thirst for hunger... leading them to eat more when in reality all they need is some water. That's why drinking water can make you feel less "hungry" - you were actually thirsty.

There is just something about that, that sounds wrong!!

Actually vinegar does have benefits and, on top of that, doesn't have the acidity to burn your insides.

Lol, that's funny, I just read something about diet fads and about how dangerous this is. It can really screw up your stomach- is a hole in your stomach worth an extra 5 pounds lost?

There's no reason to use any of these fad diets or very extreme diets unless you are significantly overweight. Rachel, from everything that i've gathered on here, you're far from that. If you seriously just want to shed a few pounds, just do as has been said- drink more water, exercise more, and cut your calories.

My mother-in-law does this except it is CIDER vinegar that is supposed to do the trick. Of course, she's been doing this for the three years my husband and I have been together and hs not lost any weight that I can see:)

I've also heard this with grapefruit juices--the high acidic contents of both will wreak havoc with your stomach acids--which is probably why you don't feel hungry anymore.

My daddy used to take a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar every morning, but he's not a big guy, so it wasn't to lose weight. I forgot what the reason was.

The water alone will do the same thing. A 12 oz Coke has about 150 calories. If you substitute water for softdrinks you could decrease your calorie intake by 300 per day which works out to 2100 per week and 12600 in 6 weeks.

actually, i was talking to my best friend last night, and she said that is a middle eastern remedy that her mom uses all the time. And it is cider vinegar!!

Rudey 01-28-2004 09:02 PM

Uhm ok show me where it says that it messes up your stomach and can burn a hole in it. If anyone says that in an article they are a boob without a basic understanding of science.

I've heard a lot of people do this...i forget the reason as well though.

I don't think it'll burn a hole in your stomach...I'm not even sure how much vinegar it would take to do that much damage.
