Is there a penality for a sorority breaking the fraternities dry rush policy?
Hi I was wondering if there was a penality for a sorority breaking the fraternities dry rush? At my school the IFC fraternities have a dry rush policy and I just found out that one of the Panhellenic sororities are going to go party with one of the fraternities.
As Panehellenic President I feel as though the sororities should respect the their policy. Dry rush is only from Jan 26 to Feb 6th and they can have parties after that. Annice |
I can assure you that the national groups would be very upset with both the fraternity and sorority in question. I would suggest talking with the presidents of each group and letting them know that if they violate this policy you will feel obligated to report it to their headquarters. (and follow through if necessary).
If this isn't specifically addressed by your Panhellenic Council now, you should propose a policy to assist you in making a stand in the future as well. Dee |
It depends. At my school, the rush rules state that rush is dry. There are, however, afterparties that don't fall within those rules.
I doubt it's a big secret or conspiracy. |
What ktsnake is saying. Are you saying the Sorority is crashing a fraternity RUSH event and bringing alcohol?
If the event isn't a specific RUSH event it doesn't have to be dry. Also, you should really work hard to avoid having your umbrella organization become the Greek Gestapo of your campus. You want to think good and hard about turning people in or penalizing them. Quote:

If the fraternity is stupid enough to open their door to chicks bearing booze some other fraternity is going to find out!! Let them take care of it.
