Living Circle...
Hey any chapters that do Living Circle... could you please send me a copy of it. I have asked around the chapter and they have no clue and I think it would be something really great to do before initation and maybe next year before pref parties.
If you just want to make a copy and sent it to me via the mail I will give you my address! Thanks! Arin |
what is the living circle?

If it is the Living Purpose, then it should be in the VP-MD's binder. I can send you it if need be :)

Is it anything like a fireside?

I don't know if individual chapters do it on their own, but the only Living Circle I've been to was at the 2001 Convention in Atlanta. There we sang songs (mainly the ones every Alpha Gam should know), at the conclusion of Convention. It was neat because after the Living Circle, some regional parts got together on their own and sang their own special AGD songs. I even have video of it! That's where the Hawaii delegation did our special hula.
The Living Purpose is another NM ceremony where our Purpose is broken down into parts. The narrator goes into detail on how we can incorporate those parts into our everyday lives. That should be in your VPMD/NMC's part in the binder. PM for details if you wish! |
The Living Circle is the new History book being released by IHQ in March of this year. You can read about it and order it online from the agd website.

Wendy, the others are talking about the Living Circle ceremony (although it is the name of the book, too!)
The LA and OC Alumnae Chapters do something like the Living Circle to close IRD every year. |
So is there a difference between the Living Purpose and the Living Circle? Sandy, I've asked around and no one seems to have that ceremony. I will try again, but I don't know...

The Living Circle is not a ceremony, but is when sisters gather in a circle after Feast of Roses at Convention and sing Fraternity songs, plus collegiate and alumnae chapter and alumnae clubs may also do this for special events, such as the close of IRD, chapter birthday party, or some other occasion that has significant meaning to the group.
The Living Purpose is found in the Member Development Team Handbook, Resource Guide, pages 3-7. It is a ceremony, not a part of Ritual, but should be conducted with great respect for the Purpose of Alpha Gamma Delta. |

Thanks Sisters, I will try to get the NEW VPMD to look again for me. You know how out going officers can let things slip by...
As to the reason... I'm thinking that it would be a good tradition for the alums to do with the chapter for Fireside and before Pref to get them into the "mood". How many sisters are needed? |
The Living Purpose is best done with 11 participants/speakers (plus the chapter and new members). However it can be done just as effectively with three participants/speakers.
