100 African Slave Children

Has anyone heard of this? It was on the Tom Joyner Show today. There are over 100 African children who have been on a boat...yes a BOAT for over 30 days. It is believed that they are to be sold into slavery. Where are they to be sold, you ask? According to the report, one location is WEST PALM BEACH. Officials don't want to disclose other locations because they don't want the boat owners (believed to be Benin (sp?) business men) to fear being caught, or they might dump the children overboard. I just can't believe this--I can hardly type this out because I'm so upset. Does anyone have any other info on this? I didn't see anything on the T. Joyner web page, so I don't know what the deal is. My God.

Girl, NO. I don't work today, so I didn't hear Tom and the gang today.

I wonder if Tom, Dan, and Peter have been reporting on this. It has been 30 days already! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif I guess that 'splains it!

West Palm Beach, huh...RICH..., let me stop! slavery in the year 2001? And many believe that we have OVERCOME? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/confused.gif

Well, I looked at the Tom Joyner site again just now, and still nothing. I posted a note to the message board, we'll see if that might bring about some more information.

I just refuse to get too upset about this right now. I can feel my blood pressure going up.... I really hope that this is a sick and crazy rumor.

CNN now has the story on its website. It is reporting that the ship has been spotted.

Shalom Everybody~

I haven't heard anything in my neck of the woods (which is as redneck as they gets...no apology, it is the truth)!

AKAtude, if it is possible, please put the website address for CNN up---I've been watching the CNN news and nothing has been mention.

I can't believe this is happening---and I'm upset with tears...this is the stuff that stresses me out and makes me do a heart-check on myself so that I don't carry bitterness in my inner-man and go off on the wrong folks. I know I'm always saying "let's pray", but now I want to know what we can do in addition to prayer?

In the meantime, I'm about to have a lonnnnnng talk with our HEAVENLY DADDY because I'm confused!

Shalom~

Thanks, AKA2D.

I understand the conditions in Benin, but I could not fathom selling my child to strangers, for him/her to work Heaven knows where, and not know what is happening or going to happen to them. My heart is so heavy right now. It's been reported that the ship was spotted, let us all continue to pray that they children are safe. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif

"Thankyou AKAtude" for the website address.

Lord, Lord, Lord!!!!!!!!!

WHY??????????????????

We in the West, even those of us from poor backgrounds, have no idea what it is to experience the type of gut-wrenching poverty that prompts parents to sell their children into servitude, be it sexual (like in Thailand and other Asian countries where Western businessmen book "sex tours" to have sex with children) or manual labor (like the situation in Benin).

I saw the story on CNN over the weekend. My heart sank when I heard the people on the boat would consider throwing the "human cargo" over board because they had been denied access to several ports.

These are children for crying out loud. I can't even imagine what they are going through. They must be so scared. It makes me sick just thinking about it.

I heard about this on campus. The thought of that ship and those children makes me want to throw my hands up and beg the lord to please let those children be o.k. I'm so sickened!

I heard about this earlier this morning. They are afraid to give out too much information for fear that the children may be thrown overboard. I don't know much more than that.

Unfortunately, slavery is still a way of life in Africa and is still practiced in many Arab countries. The Arabs and Taureg people of Mauretania frequently raid neighboring Senegal for Black African slaves. One of the main causes for the long civil war in the Sudan is due to the Arabized north raiding the southern Black Nuba and Dinka villages for young slaves, preferably, females. Did you know that the former leader of Egypt, Anwar Sadat, is the product of an Arab father and one of his Black slaves (concubines). Also, the former Saudi Arabian ambassador to the U.N is the son of King Faisal and one of his Black female slaves captured in the Sudan at age 9. If you ever saw the ambassador, he looks exactly like any regular AA male. This information was from a 60 Minutes interview with the Ambassador.

I saw on Good Morning America that when the ship docked this morning there were no kids on board, only agitated passengers. I PRAY that they were not thrown overboard. Officials are now saying they believe they were tracking the wrong boat. Something is not sitting right with this situation.
