Rumor about a Sorority Coming to Campus
 

There's a rumor going around that someone was contacted by a sorority saying the sorority wants to colonize a chapter at my college. I asked someone what sorority it is, but no one knew. Is there anyway to verify these rumors?

Your campus Panhellenic or whoever heads up Greek LIfe would know if a new sorority is coming to your school, or at least they should. Usually the campus Panhellenic makes the decision whether a sorority colonizes or not. How many NPC groups do you have now?

We just have three NPC groups now and a local that deaffiliated from an NPC group in 1970. We had a fifth NPC sorority until about four or five years ago when they were kicked out.

With 3 NPC groups then you have a Panhellenic Council, right? They would know if another sorority is coming to campus. They probably would have asked for input and a vote from your existing sororities. Usually the campus Panhellenic makes the decision to open the school to expansion and they invite (through NPC) interested groups to make presentations. It would be odd for an NPC group to approach a campus if the campus has not said they are open for expansion.

I love that Rumors song!! It was popular the summer after I finished high school (1986). They did a parody of it with a song called "Roaches". I don't know if it was a local thing or not but it was really funny!
