I want to see it, but I don't think I'll be able to find anyone to see it with me. Most of my friends are pretty anti-trendy movies.

Ashton Kutcher is from the city I live in now and the morning radio show guys kept going on and on about how it was getting horrible reviews and how he had cancelled all his interviews because he couldn't talk about the movie after he saw the reviews.

I think it looks interesting, but more of a renter for hubby and me some night.

My sister saw it the other day, she said it was ok and put up some point of thought, but not to spend money on it, wait till it comes out on cable.

I loved the movie!! I'm not sure why it got bad reviews??? I thought it was great! :D

For those who have seen it- was the negative portrayal of the Greek system AT ALL necessary??! I just didn't see how it at all helped the story line, or how is was needed in the plot??

I saw it. We had a running joke that you could tell the IQ of a person by how much it affected you. Assuming you are at least a little thoughtful and reflective.

But yeah the central theme made the movie worth seeing. And if you can make me jump in a theatre its a suspenseful movie.

I'm looking forward to seeing this. I was talking to some friends who saw it last night and they said it was excellent...and that they would pay to see it again.

The critics are giving this movie bad reviews, but it was #1 at the box office...at least it was in Canada.
I think people are going to see it despite the bad reviews to see Ashton in a non dumb-ass role!
I think it looks like an alright movie and I'd like to see it.

That doesn't mean a movie is good or not....Kangaroo Jack was the #1 movie in at one point.

I used to listen to critics all the time too, but one realize smost of them are coming from a much different POV than the average viewer. Just got to take it for what it is: an opinion.

I still want to see it...looks interesting enough....

I think if you finished reading my post you would have seen that I said I believed the reason it was #1 at the box office was because, despite the critics reviews people were going to see it because they wanted to watch Ashton Kutcher in a non dumb-ass role.

I don't listen to critics...I never have. I actually think it looks like a good movie and I wouldn't mind going to see it.

I saw this movie opening night and it was definitely good!

Like someone already mentioned, I wouldn't recommend seeing it if you are faint of heart or have a weak stomach. (Also - I saw it at a movie tavern w/ food.. after sitting through that, I wouldn't recommend eating during some parts either, but I'm a scaredy cat :o )

It was really really good and definitely something I would like to see again. It definitely keeps you wondering 'what's going to happen next?'

I definitely liked Ashton in this "non dumb ass role" and think this movie will open up doors for him b/c he won't just been seen as the guy in "Dude, where's my car"

:)

Sorry, I was agreeing with you. I should have wrote:

"You're right, that DOESN'T mean..."

gphiangel624 01-27-2004 03:19 AM

I didn't want to see it because it looked a little creepy for my tastes (I dont do well with scary movies since "The Ring" and "28 Days Later" haunted me), but my date on Saturday really wanted to see it, so I gave it a chance...

And I really liked it. Ashton did a great job with his character. It was definitely interesting and worth the overpriced movie tickets and the screaming teenagers in the theatre.

wishuponastar- Yes, the negative Greek image that was in a small part of the movie stinks because it was just that, negative. But since it was such a small part of it all, I don't think it will make much of a difference on what people think of the Greek system. Besides, it was kind of funny watching Ashton look confused in hazing the pledges in the movie. I mean, he makes a living on making people look stupid so it was a little ironic to me.

EH?????

Oh MAN, am I the only one who though this movie sucked? I have to say it was the funniest thriller/drama I've ever seen, the enTIRE movie theater was laughing every 10 seconds. What a joke. What annoyed me is that it could have been really good, the whole idea of the movie is neat, but the actors were terrible! Especially the mother, she had the personality of a rusty can. And Ashton needs to stick to comedies, the whole "serious" actor thing is not working for him. At one point in the movie when he's fleeing from authority figures in a mental hospital, it looks like a scene straight out of a Jim Carrey movie, he was running like a big goofball, and did the whole "whip your head around to the side like a maniac and back again" thing. Luckily I saw it for free, don't be a sucker and waste your money!

DigitalAngel126 01-27-2004 01:35 PM

a good friend of mine saw this last night and she said it was AWESOME...all she kept saying was 'man, that was MESSED UP!!!'. hahaha :) I want to see it.
