More Pitt News..
This was printed in today's Pitt News.. There is some relativly positive stuff in here, unlike the article that they published for The Fraternity "meet the greeks". The bit on the basketball players was somewhat random.
Pitt News: Sorority Meet the Greeks |
Nice article! Did all the sororities turn out, or just the ones who will be recruiting this term?
Just out of curiosity, how many sororities will be recruiting? |
Wow, that Basketball thing is totally random.
|
I think most of the groups are recruiting? My roommate said that Tri Delt was doing open bidding so they wouldn't be participating in recruitment. I think KD has like 6 spots because of so many people abroad, so we will be participating.
I was very happy to hear that 80 girls turned out for spring Meet the Greeks.... that's a good amount for spring! |
From what I've heard, all of the sororities are going through recruitment. This is informal COB.. there was a push to make it less formal, but thankfully, that got rejected.

I agree with the random basketball thing, what's up with that?
Anyway, I do have to say that I was disappointed that panhel set a bid freeze, they effectively took away almost 4 weeks of being able to recruit women, and they can't set a freeze except for formal. Needless to say, I was really annoyed with all of this. That is a great turnout though! Hopefully all of the women will have an open mind and not all go for the same 5 spots! Good luck to all of the chapters. ETA: Honeychile - all the sororities go to meet the greeks regardless of whether they can take women. I believe most houses will be taking women, but I think a great deal have slashed their informal recruitment budgets due to last years poor turnout. |
I'm glad to hear that all the houses participated in Meet The Greeks - I've seen times in the past when those who have already met Quota/Total didn't bother. Having all of the sororities represented just makes it look like a stronger Greek System.
As for the basketball remark, I think it was just a way to work in that there were some good looking ladies representing there! Not the greatest journalism, but good PR... ETA: the last I heard, ADPi has less than 10 spots open. I had heard 5, but it was an unreliable source. |
