Recruitment Question
Hey Ladies!
I'm applying to be a Recruitment Counselor, and I need some help. One question asks for some creative activities that I would use for "my" rho chi group. My problem is that I never went through formal recruitment, so I don't know what activies are done in the groups. Help!! LITB, Laura |
we didn't do a lot of "group activities" per say. My Rho Chi did give us nifty little things. For example, since the majority of us had just moved to Athens, she typed up a list of all the good restuarants and their phone numbers along with hair salon's and tanning beds. Then she gave us cute cut outs with inspirational quotes on them to help us get through the week.
Good luck applying! My Big applied and got a 2nd round interview and should find out next week if she is a Rho Chi or not! |

I was never "technically" a Rho Gam but I did go through Formal Recruitment and was disaffiliated as Pres of Panhellenic so here is my $.02.
Each Rho Gam (or team of Rho Gams) pick a name for their group that they will beginning the week of recruitment with (aka..ladybugs, bees, hearts, etc) and usually they get a bunch of little things according to their group name like stickers and notepads and stuff (i believe last recruitment they also did the astrological signs). Your Rho Gam group is the group that is supposed to become the closest throughout recruitment....they get broken up while going to different parties but women never forget who the women were who started out with them. I think that the best thing that my Rho Gams did for our group was after the first or second night of recruitment, we all waited around about 15-20 minutes until our Rho Gams got out of their meeting and we all went to dinner. It was late but it allowed us all to bond not only with our RGs but each other. Another thing that I would like to see is meetings between the RGs and their original group members before or after so you all can share your experiences. It was nice to see what everyone thought about the chapters (not that they were swaying our decisions but so we all could see that we had different perceptions) and plus you get to know your RGs a lot better and it is always fun to guess where they are from. Ok I think that is all I have....hope it helps! Good luck!! LITB, Andrea |
I went through formal recruitment this past fall.. I loved it.. My Rho Chi's were awesome.. told us alot about themselves.. the panhellenic positions they held in previous years.. favorite greek memories.. on our 'theme day' we went as a group to Pizza My Heart.. most groups split up and went their separate ways during out lunch hour but we stuck together and bonded.. we even had girls from other groups hang out with us a lot because they saw that we all enjoyed getting to know each other.. Most of the girls in my group and I ended up in DG together which was awesome.. we're all pretty close.. I run into the other girls all the time on campus and chat like crazy.. It was really fun.. I ran into one of my Rho Chi's at AOII's Mr. Fraternity (she's an alum) and she remembered mine name and the names of my sisters which was a total plus. :) Good luck! :)

The Rho Gamma's from the last formal recruitment here were great! They made nametags for each of their groups that the girls wore each night. The name tags were made out of that foam paper stuff. They were super cute...each group had something different - let's see how many I can remember: Lady bugs, little dresses, fish, gum ball machines (REALLY CUTE), butterflies, presents with cute lil' bows, neckties, flowers, and so many more that I can't remember.

Laura, You'll do great! I have so much confidence in you!
|
I will be interviewing Tuesday and will find out Thursday night if I make Rho Chi!
|
I didn't make Rho Chi. I guess I just got too nervous during my interview and messed it up. I'm pretty disappointed, but my mom told me there was a reason I didn't make it, and I'll just have to wait to see what it is.

Laura....
At least you tried!!!! Maybe next year! ;) Now that you've been through it, you'll know what is expected and what they look for when you try it again! |

But I'm all better about it now :) |
I'm sorry you didn't make it. My Big didn't make it here, either.
However, one of the girls that did make it from your chapter has been one of my best friends since 5th grade! |
