In addition to January 1st, many Asian countries and others around the world also celebrate the Lunar New Year. January 22nd is the start of the new year and runs through February 8, 2005. According to the ancient calendar, this is year 4702, and it is the Year of the Monkey.

So eat your gao, everyone...and here's to wishing all of you a happy, healthy, and very prosperous Lunar New Year!
