Wow. And I got slapped with a ticket for going 37 in a 25.
Of course I contested it last month, and the judge laughed and dismissed it. |
A fixed penalty? Here, if it's (speed limit) 70 and you are caught doing 90....YOU GO TO JAIL! |

How long is the jail time?? |
I don't know....I'm not trying to find out, although I came close (one time). :p

Ahh..reckless driving...*thinks about getting caught going 85 in a 65*

I don't know the rules in all states, but in Illinois at least, that is a myth. You can NOT get a ticket for reckless driving simply for driving too fast. There is some legalese in there like "a willful disregard for the safety of others" that is rather difficult to prove.
Most people with reckless driving convictions really had DUI's that their lawyers pled down to reckless driving. |
Well I was doing 92 in a 70 on the turnpike in Florida (oops), and I certainly didn't get arrested (thank god, the cop was a jerk, to put it nicely). But I have heard that if you do 25+ that you can get arrested, or at least have a more serious charge. Don't know the validity of that though, my friend told me. It was just bad enough to have a $173 ticket for being pulled over for the first (and hopefully last!) time. The $206 in court fees didn't help either
