Does anyone have ideas for a Philanthropy project for recruitment? Thanks!

Our chapter has done several unique projects from decorating pillow cases for a camp for special needs kids, frisbies for the local children's shelter and the rice sock heating pads to give to a local nursing home. All worked well and were recieved with much grattitude the one that we have stuck with the past several years has been the heating pads. :) Hope these ideas help or spark some new ideas for you.

Roses,
Sarah

I know that my chapter has made boo-boo bunnies, they are basically washcloths that you stick ice in that are shaped like bunnies for kids. They've dont the rice socks thing. A couple of years ago they painted picture frames and decorated them for a local senior home.

Our chapter has done the following crafts:

1. Decorated quilt squares with paint and glitter and then the quilts were made and donated to a children's hospital in Jackson, MS. (Very easy craft for PNMs).

2. Filled pretty colored balloons with sand and tied a ribbon on them shut and donated them to a local retirement home. The filled balloons are a great little stress ball and they are good for people with arthritis to squeeze on during the day. (Pretty easy, just make sure your area has sand available, Oxford, MS does not always have sand!!!)

3. I am not sure what these were called but they were a long piece of thick cotton fabric filled with rice and the PNMs decorated them. The rice bags can be heated in a microwave for a few seconds and it feels so good on a stiff neck or a sore muscles. Then we donated them to some local retirement communities and the people there loved them! (Very easy project, somewhat expensive when you have to have 900 rice bags made, but that is what the parent's club is for!)
