alumni involvment

i was wondering how much involvement alumni usually have (this goes for locals and nationals) with the current chapter and how they are often received by the actives?

our alumni have really helped us out a lot- but sometimes- they get involved too much... and relations are kinda strained now.... any advice? thanks!

When I was active some of the alumni were active but that was only like 1/8th of our alumni. As an alumni now I feel its important to support the girls and be there for them as much as possible. I want to be able to show them I still care.

My chapter has been around since 1923, so there are loads of alums out there. However, when I was active I only saw about 5 of them regularly. Some of the more recent ones would come around on occasion, but I didn't really see all that many alumnae. Now that I'm alum, I know that a lot goes on behind the scenes...just because the chapter doesn't see them doesn't mean they're not working hard to help out. The snacks that always magically appeared in the snack room at the sorority house around finals time came from alums who donated them, and every year during Rush the house was filled with beautiful flowers sent by alums. I wish I was more active as an alum, but alas, I'm about an hour from my chapter and it's hard to stay in the loop. Maybe once I move back (probably next month) it'll change.

You might get more information if you checked out the alumni forum. There are a number of threads discussing this very subject.......
