I am running a marathon

I am running a marathon this June as part of the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. The next five months will be filled with fund-raising and training. If anyone has ever been a part of TNT or ran a marathon, please share. I hope to keep this thread updated every so often, if you all don't mind, as well as my own blog, once I learn the best Web site to blog with!

Wow! That's very impressive, not to mention for a great cause! I don't have any advice for your training, since I can run about four miles and then I want to collapse and die, but I just wanted to wish you the best of luck! :)

YAY FOR YOU!

Definitely keep us posted!

Congrats!

Train hard and go for it. Me personally, i only run when being chased, but mucho respect for marathoners. I get tired just driving 26 miles :D

I did a half marathon (13 miles) in 1998, and in under 2 hours baby!

Well, the way that I see it, is if P. Diddy can do it, then you can do it!

I would love to do a marathon, but I was pretty pooped after 13 miles, that I am not sure that I could do it twice in one day.

I'd love it if you'd keep us updated!

Cool deal. I actually have a friend who also works with me did that marathon. She managed to finish it but unfortunately she was a little bit "injured" in the sense that she pulled some muscles and had to be carried off to the bus that would take her back to the hotel. I haven't done a marathon yet. There is this one coming up around June I think that I was interested in doing but I'm not so sure. Heck I even have trouble just doing a 10K one. I need to get in shape.

Congrats!! What a great cause and what a challenge!!

My boyfriend's sister ran the Dublin Marathon in 2001 for the Arthritis foundation and we were so amused to see people from Team In Training with GIANT Signs that said Go TIT!!!! I'm glad to see that they are going with TNT now!! All we kept thinking was that they should be running for Breast Cancer.....

Keep us posted on your training and how everything goes!! I understand (to a degree) the challenge you are facing - I am walking the Boston Breast Cancer 3-Day - 60 miles in 3-Days! So I'm venturing down the Fundraising and Training path as well!!

Maybe we could share some ideas about fundraising and advertising.

Good luck!!
And cheers to you for taking on such a challenge for a great cause!!

Ditto.

Runners are nuts -- but I have a lot of respect for them.

In a former life, I was Executive Producer of live telecasts of the Bolder Boulder 10K run each Memorial Day. That race has over 30,000 entrants now and was founded in part by Frank Shorter, and Olympic Gold Medalist who worked with us on the telecast.

On hot days, runners would line the fence outside Folsom Field on the University of Colorado campus (finish line) barfing. On the other hand, after a couple of minutes to recover, many looked like they had taken a stroll in the park.

Good luck to you and congratulations on a great cause.

That's really cool. My goal is to take on a half marathon and then a full within 1.5 years.

This marathon in San Diego is the Suzuki Rock N Roll marathon, so there is a band placed every mile ... its a festive atmosphere from what I hear. I may try to incorporate a 1/2 marathon here in St. Louis into my training. I am really excited, but its a daunting thought at the same time.
