Eyish!
Ok, someone tell me that you heard of this word before and know what it means.
I'm trying to convince my mother and grandmother that no one else knows what this word means except for them and their family. My mother had a turkey sandwhich at the cheesecake factory yesterday, but wanted to send it back. She like told the server that "it tasted eyish". The server was like . My grandma said the server should've known better because she was black. I said that her family made up this word. I'm curious to know if anyone knows what i'm talking about. |
Sorry, D, don't know what that means, but that sounds like something that MY grandma would say! I can almost bet that I've heard it before, but it's been a while. . .

Dionysus,
The only thing I can figure is your grandma might be referring to an aftertaste? Like if the pizza made right before yours had anchovies (yuck) and you detect an anchovies-ish taste on your pizza.... it's said to be anchovies-eyish? But then again, you don't generally get to be old being no fool, so I ain't bout to fight with your grandma on her "unique colloquism," and I'd suggest you not either, cause she can still prolly swing a mean switch? :p besides can't nobody make up words like us....I see this nere' bout daily here on GC!! |
Is that the way SOME say Irish? As in eyish potato?
 Can you use it in a sentance, please? |
can we get a pronounciation too?
|
LMAO there's almost 150 views on this thread, so I assume that I'm right! This is only a family word.
Ok, I'll use it in a sentence with pronouciation: "I really enjoy my salad and soup, but this turkey sandwhich is the most ee-YISH thing I've tasted in my life!" Yeah, Tony, it's related to some sort of after taste that is in some meats, particularly beef and lunch meat. Whenever one has this weird aftertaste in chicken, they call it "chickendy", now I know that one is made up! |
That is strictly a family word! :D
|
I just added it to my vocabulary. :D
