Tip of the Day

This thread is for people to post random advice tips in . .

I'll go first:

When getting your pic taken you will take a better pic on a long shot than a widescreen close shot . . .

also try to relax a bit...think about how you want to look and try to work with it. amazing what a tilted head can do..

Always, always, always decorate around the stereo system's speakers. Always.

Always have a can of fix-o-flat in your car or two . . . as well as JUMPER CABLES!

Russ,

Is this opposed to decorating on the stereo speakers? Or do you just not like blank space around your speakers?

When uncertain about room acoustics, use the rule of thirds. Have the speakers seperated by one third the distance of the width of the wall on which they are aligned. Pull the speakers out by one third the length from the back wall.

NEVER place anything on the speakers unless they are vibration control devices.

Use the live end/dead end method of room placement with the speakers firing from the dead end into the live end.

If the room is carpeted, do not let the speaker wire touch the floor, as it will draw electrostatic energy into the system. Use a speaker wire suspension system.

I can go on and on, but remember that the end result is to have the ability to bring the likes of Ella Fitzgerald back to life, and that kind of beauty transcends superficial aesthetics.

Ok actually I'ma delete my "life rule" and write a handy tip instead:

When opening cds and you don't want to spend years peeling off the top sticker, pop the side of the box out so that the corners unhinge- you'll be able to peel off the title sticker in one piece.

always remember that being alone in your car does not mean you are alone on the road. your car most likely has big glass windows surrounding you, so such activities as picking your nose and pretending to be britney spears will make you look like a fool.

also, just don't watch dr. phil.

Here is a tip: Never speak badly of anyone. You never know who knows each other. Trust me on this.

James-this is a fantastic idea!

When shopping-
If you see an item you like in a store, carry it around with you
as you continue to browse. Many times you will realize you don't REALLY want it and you will put it back.

Adding a TOUCH of sugar to vegetables brings out more flavor than salt.

To add on to Cream's...

Don't pass on hearsay about someone. Chances are somehow it will get back to that person and really hurt them, especially if it's not true. And don't believe hearsay until you actually hear it from the people involved.

mattpike 01-03-2004 11:22 AM

dont eat yellow snow. its not lemon flavor. :D

seriously

-anyone afraid of what tv does to the world is probably just afraid of the world. James Clive.

-troubleing yourself over the past is as useless as driving foward in a car while looking in the rearview mirror.

and one of my own
-some times i find myself in the middle of nowhere, but then sometimes in the middle of nowhere i find myself.

As you climb the ladder of success, don't let the boys look up your dress.

PhiPsiRuss 01-03-2004 10:34 PM

Ladies, ignore the previous post ;)

Also, part of being mature is knowing when not to be.
