snap bidding?
I've heard this term mentioned several times on the message boards. Can anyone explain what it means to me? It sounds kinda scary!!!

If a rushee decides to do a suicide bid, which is declaring that they will only accept a bid from one house, the house doesn't know that ahead of time. If the house doesn't bid on that rushee, they can find out later that they did a suicide bid and snap bid the rushee, or give them a bid after a certain hour on Bid Day.

Snap bidding is used to offer membership invitations to women that did not get placed during bid-matching. Snap bidding happens after bid matching ends but before the 'formal' invitations for membership are given to the potential members.
The purpose is twofold, it offers women that will not get an invitation from one of their three 'preferenced' chapters to join another chapter and it allows chapter that did not make quota during bidmatching to fulfill that guideline. Usually a chapter will only extend snap bids to women that are on their bid matching list. Barb |
