EWWWW--Burger King in Clarion!

I was getting stuff ready for the morning shows at my job and found this story on the newswire.

Spit Burger
A former fast food chef was sentenced to 90 days in jail for fixing a state trooper’s hamburger with
one too many ingredients – spit! 18-year-old Joshua Arbuckle of Hawthorn, Pennsylvania, admitted
spitting in the burger when he worked at Burger King in Clarion, Pennsylvania, in February. The cop
discovered the spit on the burger when he tried to remove the pickles from the sandwich. A sample
of saliva from the burger was tested against a sample taken from Arbuckle, who pleaded guilty to
service of adulterated food and retaliation for past official action.

OMG! I used to eat there when I went to Clarion!

The same thing happened at a Roy Rogers near my house a couple of years ago. Except instead of a state trooper it was just a rude customer.

Kind of makes me want to eat at home for the rest of my life!

Jess, I'm sorry that that happened and I really hope that you weren't one of Chef's Spitty's customers.

BUT...let this be a lesson to everyone. Being a service industry employee myself, never ever ever piss off your waiter or waitress before you get your food or drinks, no matter how bitchy or rude they are. It's simply not worth it and it's easier to deal with an attitude rather than wonder whether or not they spit or did other heinous acts to your order.

Believe me...even I've wanted to spit on the stuff my customers ordered. Some people are just really, really bad.

I'm sorry but that's just wrong. I don't care how bitchy the waiter/waitress/server is or how rude the customer is. That's just disgusting! I used to work in food service and I would never even think of doing that!

This whole thing has got me feeling nauseaus right now! I would hope that the people on this board that work in food service would not do such a thing. Not only is it gross, but who knows what kind of nasty disease you could pick up from that.

Just 90 days in jail? I think the kid needs some serious counseling. Kind of sociopathic behavior.

bethany1982 12-22-2003 11:27 AM

Don't you just love fast food...

docetboy 12-22-2003 01:03 PM

Speaking of rude customers...I sometimes wish I could do that. But since I work at a sandwich shop, it's hard :(

BTW, Note to anyone who may come to my resteraunt: DO NOT HAVE CHEWING TOBACCO IN YOUR MOUTH WHILE YOU ORDER YOUR FOOD!!! It's hideously DISGUSTING!

Jess, I had read this before, and I've eaten many a Whopper there. I forget why he did it.

My pet peeve as a food service worker was when people would let their baby stand on the counter or sit their diapered butt on it. Gross.

Yeah, thats pretty gross. i thought I was the only one that thought was sick.

I was at a Burger King a few years ago and watched some idiot lay their infant down on a table and change his/her diaper. No diaper pad or anything.

Not sure if it was number one or number two, but once a certain leval of grossness is reached anything else is superfluous.

I never said that I've done that. I said that I've often thought about it, and I never once advocated such a thing.

It is disgusting, but you don't know what goes on in the mind of your server. Would you really take that risk and cop an attitude w/ your server before you got your food? Just because you wouldn't do it and you don't want others to do it doesn't mean it couldn't happen.

Some people are just sick like that and unfortunately you don't have any control over it.

I just said it was disgusting. And that I hoped no one on this board did such a thing. If any of you did, remind me if I'm ever in your state not to eat at your restaurant.

I was usually just bitchy back to the really rude customers. It shut them up pretty fast because they weren't expecting it. They knew they were being rude and I wasn't going to put up with their crap.

Or not be a rude customer.

I advocate such a thing. The state trooper probably deserved it.

ToBeSororityGrl 12-23-2003 12:05 AM

I think a lot of it really boils down to manners. I work as a cashier and get all kinds of impatient rude assholes and then I get the customers who will wait patiently with a smile as someone else takes their time or so forth. I've been upset with service at resturants and stores before but I have NEVER taken it out on the employee. It really shows them how low class and mannerless you really are
