"The Brothers" is a very good flick. It is like a "Waiting to Exhale" for African American men but in a testosterone way... I found it rather interesting that the characters in this movie who were nearing 30 felt compelled to gain and maintain a relationship with a woman. It was interesting to observe the relationship issue from a Black men's perspectives.

The flip side where I think the moviemakers could have done better was it hard for me to keep track of the numerous plots in this movie. I understood that each man had his own separate issues with women, but the finale of the plots were never followed through, I guess so that they could make another movie... Moreover, the moviemakers could not expand on a specific issue because there were too many plots. IMO, there was one they could have explored more deeply, but could not because it would take too much time from a 1.5-2 hour movie.

Other than that, I'd say one should see it durning a Saturday matinee. I might pay the $10 to see it, but I would try to get a discount. IMHO, this movie is not a Friday night date movie. I could see were some men would find these characters portrayed by these actors rather, well, ummm, "punkish"... But most definitely see it with your girls if you can.

This movie is more of chick flick. Not very much action--no Wesley Snipes, "Blade" moves goin' on... Oh, and make sure the movie houses do not F up the film. A very reputable theater had the film burn at the very end of the movie so the folks prior to us watching it missed the ending... Hmmmm. Wonder why it had to happen to "The Brothers" rather than "Hannibal"???

And finally, I can definitely tell you this, there was no waste in "goooddddd equipment", if you catch my drift... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

Anyhow, I hope you see it soon!

I wouldn't say that this was just a ladies movie. IMO every woman in the movie was either "someone's mama" or extremely attractive. Mind you there were only 3 mamas in the movie.

Hey ladies & gents too

AKA'tude, I'm not a critic, but : ) this movie was missing something. It started off to fast. It had a middle and an end. But no beginning. I would have loved if the movie would have at least taken us to their early 20's. Or flash backs to their childhood so we could at least get a better background of the brothers upbringing (for example the relationships they had with their mothers). If anyone saw the movie you know what I'm talking about. All and all it was a ok/good movie. It was definitely not , "The Best Man", not that their alike but it's not a must see.

But don't let anyone be the judge for you. You have to go see it for yourself. As I said earlier I am not a critic. I just know what I like.

I went to see it on the opening weekend, and I must say that while I liked the movie, I've critical of the directoral misdirection in the film. I too, thought that the production team should have encouraged more exploration into the characters distinctly and in a fashion that fits neatly into one good plot...that's what was missing from this film!

I definitely think that it's a must see. It was a good attempt to explore male-female relationships from the male perspective. It was refreshing in that sense. But, there's also some contribution for the woman's perspective as well.

There's plenty of strong and meaningful dialogue in the movie, that's for certain. I would encourage you to see the movie for yourself. It has something for everyone: guys, gals, old and young.

Out of five stars, I'd give this movie 3 and 1/2. ***1/2.

I loved the movie!! No, it wasn't Oscar material, but it was entertaining and interesting. I liked it so much I saw it TWICE! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I saw the movie with my lady this past weekend. What I liked about the picture is that it showed successful black men that keep it real. They had professional lives but were not removed from their community. You know what I mean.

Those that are not part of the corporate world may not understand the dymanics of the movie and as stated in another post, it may seem weak.

Overall, I thought the movie was entertainining. I would recommend it to PROFESSIONALS.

I really liked the movie, especially the way the movie explored how mother/son relationships influence how a black man relates to his woman.

Thanks for the reviews, gang! I'll see it this weekend.
