The world in 20 years

What will it be like in 20 years? Any thoughts? Ideas?

The US will allign itself with China. The middle east will become the next Africa. I'm betting Coldplay will tour the world trying to bring awareness to the region since U2 did it for Africa and we all know Coldplay is Bono's side project. South America will become the farm and manufacturing center for the region while America will be forced to concentrate on high technology and service based products to excel.

The U.S. will actully break up and get pissed off at each other, with each region going its seperate ways, and becoming they're own country. This will not matter at all and won't change anything. The only reason this happens is so other stuff can. Basically The U.S. (pretty much as it is now but with a few minor changes), Canada, France, and a few other people will hang out in Greenland. When its all over there will be two new super powers. The European Union and the Federal Republic of United North America. This will piss off South America and they will invoke some obscure article in the Federation of American States. Then they join FRUNA and decide to continue under the name of Federation of American States or some such designation like that. Then all the small countries get pissed off. Then we bomb them to just to show them what's up. Then a Global Federation is formed. I'm the Premier. You may address me as "Your Excellency."

The "first world" will become the"third world".

What does "the middle east will become the next Africa" mean?

It means that nobody will care and it will not have a good outlook for its future.

just because the Western powers don't care doesn't mean that nobody cares. You are mistaken sir.

We will be less dependent on oil and use alternative, renewable sources of energy such as solar, water, and wind power. That will be the main difference. The Middle East will lose its status as a result. Also conservation and recycling will become more popular.

I think that there will be a vaccine against HIV and AIDS in the next 20 years. I think that advances in medical science will unimaginable results. I wouldn't be surprised if the average life expectancy increased by ten years.

Since the babyboom generation will be senior citizens, geriatrics will be a huge field in medicine. Social policies will revolve around this age group. Social security taxes will increase since a big percentage of the populaton will be retired. The retirement age for people born after 1980 will increase to 70 or more. I think that the population of the US will increase to 350 million. The population of the world will be 8 billion.

I was talking to a friend the other day about what will be cool to teenagers in a few years. Nowadays, it is not uncommon to see teens with piercings and tattoos. Jokingly, I said that chopping off a pinky will be cool. I hope that I am wrong.

Actually, body modification like that is already popular in some groups. I've seen a couple documentaries on TLC about people who cut certain fingers off, or scar themselves on purpose(not like branding).

Whatever floats your boat i guess.

The US will adopt a market driven universal health care payment structure based on MSAs (medical savings acounts) that will prove to be wildly successful, and superior to the Canadian way.

French Canadians will successfully lead a successionist movement for Quebec. The rest of Canada will finally realize that they are really just Americans, and all of the remaining provinces will join an expanded USA. In this time, Puerto Rico and Guam will also become states.

The Americas will become the world's largest free trade area, with a population greater than that of China. Central American nations will begin to consolidate into a single larger nation.

Iraq will successfully transition into a democracy, spurring Egypt on to peacefully follow. Saudi Arabia will experience a violent revolution and the new government will be the Islamic Republic of Arabia. Pakistan, Iran and Syria will, through growing internal and regional pressure, transition into modern democracies. Afghanistan will remain a relatively screwed nation, but literacy will rise to a whopping 50%! Janine Garofalo will convert to Islam. Israel builds a 30' high wall, and grants Palestine independence. Palestine joins the EC. Israel joins NAFTA.

Pakistan and India resolve the Cashmir issue, and live in Peace. China almost starts a world war over Taiwan. That part of the world remains basically as is.

Africa will form a free trade area, but have little success moving forward until the EC removes agricultural subsidies. Africa will then become a boom region. France will go out of business. All will rejoice.

Pressures from nations that are not Belgium, France and Germany will prevent attempts to shift the international hegemonic structure that centers around the US, mostly because no one really likes the French or trusts the Germans.

Britney Spears will be tried for crimes against humanity. The War Against Terror will end when Osama bin Laden agrees to dismantle Al Qaeda, and provide a list of all people associated with Al Qaeda to the US. In exchange, Osama is granted amnesty. He joins up with Cher and they co-star in a show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, where there is almost universal consensus that Osama sounds just like Sonny Bono with an accent.

Bill Clinton becomes CEO of a chain of used car dealerships. Hillary Clinton runs for President, but is assasinated by marxist-feminists.

Marijuana is legalized, and the prisons are emptied of non-violent offendors and filled with rapists and murderers. Crime begins to drop nationwide.

The US share of global GDP rises to 25% and all is well.
