General Advice
Hello, I am a member of an IG of a national fraternity. We are working on establishing ourselves, currently we have 18 members and will be conducting our first official rush this Spring and we are trying to make sure everything goes off without a hitch. Any ideas for rush or just in general?
thanks |
Do not think of formal rush as when it starts and when it ends. As a colony, your #1 mission in life is to recruit 24/7. Every non-affiliated fella that's worth a crap is a possible affiliate.
If you're trying to catch your IHQ's eye and prove to them that you're worth their time as a colony, you need numbers. |
sales pitch
its all about your sales pitch. sell it, but most important sell yourself. try and tell them that they can be apart of something new that not many people get a chance to be apart of. they can be a founder and help start traditions that will be passed on for ever. they have an opportunity to do something so awsome that there name will be remembered forever. and that unlike large organizations, they will play an important role, in the activities of the fraternity. they can help build it how they think it should be built. you also have to do some pr. advertize, advertize, advertize. get your name out there, make it where no matter where they go your name is there. wear your letters all the time so that your chapter looks big, where you see your guys all over the campus. throw some parties where there are fliers, go to the club and leave fliers on the cars, try to get a big showing. and most important, get on the sororities good side, they can make you or break you, always treat the girls with respect, and then you will get all the help you need. who would want to join something that doesnt get the girls. thats just a few pointers i could go on all day. i was rush chairman for 2 years and now external vp which is over rush. i take it very seriously. hope i helped ya. good luck
