Bush & "NASCAR Dads"
 

I just read a really interesting interview with a UC Berkeley sociologist who has done research into why blue collar males continue to support Bush when his economic policies don't favor their interests.

Be sure to read the accompanying article from Alternet too. I'm interested in hearing all viewpoints on this - from the left and on the right. It'd be nice if it didn't devolve into mud-slinging. ;)

That's interesting! We had a discussion at lunch today about my coworker's husband who is a staunch republican who hates Bush and my ex-husband who is also a staunch republican who hates Bush. The first is a programmer/statistician for a pharmaceutical company and the second is a financial analyst for a steel company. Another co-worker speculated that if this becomes a trend, the white collar men will be the population that candidates will focus on winning over rather then the "soccer moms" in the last election.
