pins

Question for any and all people on ebay:

I need to know your ebay name. Recently there have been APO pins on auction on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=11011 (i'm not in this auction) and I'm interested in buying any and all of them to keep our pins out of other people not in APO's hands. But I don't want to bet against my brothers so if by chance. So If you frequent ebay and the fraternity/sorority pin auctions, leave your ebay handle. Btw, mine is kmblue100

Be aware that other Brothers are doing the same thing, and most probably don't read Greek Chat. Best idea is that if someone is bidding on the item, send them an email to verify they are Brothers.

I try to collect old APO Badges, Keys, etc. I've put together a display of this which I bring out to show Brothers & pledges. It makes a nice item to show during Info Nights, or when we cover APO History. I have most varieties of pledge & service pins, along with a badge & key and APO-related patches. Seeing such items makes some Brothers want to get their own Badge as well.

My ebay id is mikal2424

Right now there is a pledge pin on Ebay, as well as some active pins. Don't pledge pins belong to the chapters?

Here is the link. There are no bids on it: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=11145

Here's everything on there as of now: http://search.ebay.com/search/search...lpha+phi+omega

Alpha Phi Omega pins.

I understand brothers efforts to purchase pins, and I will do so as well if it is an older pin. But Alpha Phi Omega's general policy on pins is as loose as *ANY* Greek letter organization I've ever seen. The following things should give you a feeling..

1) Multiple pins (pledge or service) can be purchased in any order.
2) We don't require that the number of pins match the number of reported pledges or reported brothers. Chapters can build up stock...
3) While the pledge pin is "property of the chapter", I have only seen two chapters actually contact pledges to try to retrieve pins. And neither would have been willing to sue over the matter.
4) Service pins are property of the individual, which includes their heirs..
5) The standard pins don't cost much at all...

I'm actually on a Fraternitypin trading list on Yahoo. Almost everyone on there is a member of a Fraternity or Sorority and *none* of them would ever wear the pin of a fraternity they didn't belong to. (With the exception of a fraternity which merged one that they belonged to.)

Now if you want a National Organization willing to go the additional 720 miles to care about this, I suggest you look at Alpha Kappa Alpha. They don't even want their pins *buried* with their sisters.

Not necessarily.

Some chapters make a point of the pledge pins being property of the chapter. The one I pledged and now advise does this. Other chapters don't, and some allow the newly iniatited Brother keep their pledge pin. I find it weird to go to events and see Brothers wear both their pledge & service pins. I stopped wearing my service pin once I became a Life Member. I will wear the badge along with my LM pin at formal occasions, tho.
