Is this card better than the other Visa card?

When I first saw this I thought it was a Visa card with the band Rush on it. LOL not quite. :D

Its more like a debit card than a credit card. I'm still waiting on mine although it said it would only be 10 days...

What would be the advantage of getting this card versus a visa debit with your bank? Besides Russell paying for his house in the Hamptons, of course! ;)

question

Does this card report to the major credit bureaus?

Well from my understanding its supposed to help sway people from cashing their checks at currency exchanges (check cashing places). This is a big problem in Black communities where there are no banks.

That's a good question. I will look into that because I'm not sure.

It doesn't report to any credit bureaus because it's not a credit card. It's basically the same as a bank debit card with a few expections.

1) You don't need a checking account. That seems to be a problem in the black community as well, alot of young people don't have a bank account. I guess this would be good if you have a teen who is not old enough for a bank account, but has a job.

2)You have to pay a one time processing fee of $19.95 when you add your money to the card.

3) You can earn cash back from shopping at select locations.

Although I have two checking accounts, one for personal and one for business. I thought it would be a good idea for my husband and I to get these cards. We put our "allowance" on them. That way we stay withon our budget without going into the household money. Plus you can put money back and forth from account to account on these cards. The only way you can do that with the bank is if both are you accounts.

Some of "us" are afraid of banks (I know someone whos momma STILL keeps all her money under her mattress! :) and some check cashing places charge ghastly amounts to cash a check. This card serves as a way for people to have access to their money without paying exhorbitant fees.

MsBlue, I was thinking of using my PINK card (that is a lot of pink on one little card, lol) in the same manner..having access to my entire check has not been a good thing for me.. lol

Oh no! Maybe they were thinking 10 days in binary code or something? More like 3 months, right, Sistahgreek?
