I also would like to show some HBCU love to Alabama State University (SWAC Champs). This is their first trip ever to a NCAA tournament. They will be play tonight against Michigan State. ASU is seeded number 16 while MS is #1. Let's pray that they make history along with Hampton.

oops, that tells you how much i pay attention to college b-ball! i'm sorry Soror Discogoddess, i'm with Xavier tonite and definitely Alabama St. if anyone watches the UC vs. whomever game on Saturday, look for the cheerleaders and you'll see their captain, Soror Shadaia Gooden, Omicron's president.

No, I don't think you are correct, Soror! I know back in the day, Southern University, my other alma mater, advanced to the 2nd round of the tourney (late 80's). I think back when Avery Johnson (of the San Antonio Spurs was an undergrad and would come to my momma's house eating up our food!) LOL

Anyway,
Good luck Hampton! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Just a point of clarification: Notre Dame is playing Xavier University of Ohio tonight, not Xavier in New Orleans (HBCU). Soror Wend08, if you are still talking about Xavier of Ohio, all I have to say is:

We are N D! We are N D! (with our lepBROchaun and all)!!!!!!

GO IRISH! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

WenD08,
Coppin State, which is in Maryland I think, actually beat a number 2 team also in 1997 (I found this out from the espn.com site), but you are right, all Black college grads should be proud of Hampton for their efforts. Those two schools are 2 of 4 in the history of the NCAA tourney where a numbr 15 seed has beat a number 2. I just hate I did not pick them in my pool!!!

My manager's husband is a Hampton Grad (from the late 70s) and she said he was up until 2 a.m. "celebrating" via the telephone with his college buddies. I thought that was real cute
