Alum Chapter
So, I went to my first alum event last night...
A girl from my chapter who also just graduated just moved near me this week (yea!). Anyway, we decided to go to the holiday party that our local alum chapter had. As I probably could have guessed beforehand, we were the youngest two there- however, we had a blast! All the women we met were wonderful, and it is so very cool to know that we have Theta to connect us all. My friend and I are fully intending on being active participants of this chapter. Anyway, I'm posting this to urge all of you to look up your local alum groups after you graduate! I think it's a really great way to keep up your Theta activities, and to make connections. |
I'm trying my best to get in touch with my local alum chapter here but no one is getting back with me. I hear more from the Louisville Alum chapter an hour away than I do the local one here :(

ThetaGrrl - so glad to hear you had a great time and are getting involved.
All, it often just takes that first young (or young-ish) alumna to get involved in an alumnae chapter - other young Theta alumnae will start coming out of the woodwork. If you are having trouble getting in touch with your local alumnae chapter, a few tips/suggestions: -remember that a lot of alumnae don't read email 24/7 like all of us do -give them a week or so to get back to you, and then try one more time. The president may have sent your info on to another officer. If you tried email first, try phone next. -if you haven't heard anything after the 2nd try, contact the Alumnae District Officer (ADO) or Alumnae District President (ADP) for your area. You can find her name and contact info on the Theta website in Theta Directory. She can help you out, and will be glad to hear from you. -be sure to keep Theta HQ up-to-date with your contact info as you move. You can do this online or by calling 800-526-1870 or emailing info@kappaalphatheta.org -if you don't have an alumnae chapter, it's easy to start one! Contact HQ or PM me. Mary, feel free to PM me for more contact info for Kentucky. Jane EM/Princeton former Fraternity VP Alumnae |
The San Diego Alumnae Chapter has a mixed membership. Some much older, some more recent grads. We try to do 'maturity-level' specific programming. The Nite Kites is a series of outings to local restaurants, etc that tends to attract younger alums. I believe there is a Bridge group that gets together on weekday afternoons to play bridge. We all come together on Founders' Day and for philanthropic events with CASA. If you feel like you are the only younger members, try to get a Nite Kite group started. You may be surprised at the # of women in your age range that come out!
