Question during the festive season

How many people here tip their postal worker?

I usually leave an envelope and a bottle of Johnny Walker.

Don't even see my postal worker. We have a mailbox..

I used to in PHX, but then I knew him. Right before we moved he ordered so much stuff online for our new house that he had to come to the door. Now here in GA I barely see who is driving the mail truck, when I do it is some one different every time.

I live in an apartment so our mailboxes are really small...maybe I'll leave him something this year. When I lived at home my mom usually left our postal worker a bottle of booze.

We leave him some cash.

We almost never see him because we have a mailbox... but he's done things for us like hold the mail for us if we forget to file a mail-hold card.

Postal workers are not supposed to accept tips, I believe... but somehow we always see a printed thank-you card from the USPS the day after Boxing Day, signed by our postman... ;)

I have never tipped my mailman. Am I bad for that?

I know my mom used to give cookies, gifts, etc. when I was younger. I really don't know if she still does.

That's because you live in NYC and any and all disposable income must go to your building super if you want heat! ;)

I think my mailman at my apt. deserves a swift kick in the face. He/she screws up our mail SO OFTEN that it's ridiculous. At least once a week I have to stop on every floor on the way up to deposit mail that went to the wrong box.

We haven't tipped our mail lady lately, to my knowledge. That may be because she ran over our mailbox once, and then bent the door another time.

I don't know if my parents do, but my grandparents give the mail carrier and paperboy a phatty tip. :D What can I say? We live in a small town...

My family would give a Holiday greeting card with some money inside.

We do. Our postal lady's been coming by our house for the past 7 years. We love Joanna.

In Hawaii it's also customary to leave something for our trash guys on Christmas Day. Customary=a case of beer. It's against the law for them to carry alcohol in City & County garbage trucks, but these guys are smart. They have someone following them in a separate car that takes all the beer we leave out for them.

It's the least we could do for the awesome guys that visit us twice a week.
