Is it true About Andy Pettite (sp)?
I read from another board that Andy is about to sign with Houston. Any word on it?
|
From what I've heard, he's giving the Yankees one last chance to make an offer...if it's not to his liking, he'll go to Houston.
I'd hate to see them lose him, especially with his big-game ability, but in the back of my mind I feel like he's probably going to Houston. |
Pettite has signed with Houston.
Associated Press NEW YORK -- Andy Pettitte will pitch at home, agreeing Thursday to a three-year contract with the Houston Astros after playing his entire major league career for the New York Yankees. New York immediately went to its backup plan, closing in on a trade with Los Angeles that would send Kevin Brown to the Yankees for Jeff Weaver, a baseball official said on the condition of anonymity. Pettitte made his decision after weighing a new offer from the Yankees on Wednesday night, another baseball source said, also on the condition of anonymity. The Yankees offered the left-handed starter $39 million for three years, about $3 million more annually than Houston. But the Astros play near Pettitte's hometown of Deer Park, Texas, apparently an important factor. The rest of the article can be found at: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1683732 |
I'm Happy for Andy Pettitte. He Deserves it.
|
i'm EXTREMELY happy for Andy! :D
Being a 'Stros fan makes it easy to be happy for him. The Yankees booted this deal, if they wanted to keep him they certainly didn't show it. Kitso KS 361 times that Roy Oswalt, Wade Miller, and Andy P is a great start to a rotation |
I wonder what the Yanks will do for pitching. The got hit hard there on the off season
|
Bye bye Andy. :(
|
The Yankees didn't mess anything up. Andy chose his personal life and family over financial gains.
-Rudey --Yeah we'll miss him, but I can't wait to see who other than Brown they pull in. |
Ok...now that I had time to think about this:
We can't blame Andy for wanting to be closer to his family. I wish him luck with the Astros. Thank God he isn't pitching in the AL. However....The Yankees screwed it up. They had a right to take care of it before it got to this point, I read an article where he said he didn't even expect to go into F.A. Getting Brown for Weaver was a good move. |
The Yanks will be fine - the loss of Pettite hurts, but Brown and Vazquez are top of the rotation guys. On top of that, they have Mussina, Contreras and Jon Lieber (who was a good pitcher for Chicago before he had Tommy John surgery a little over a year ago).
The Yanks pitching staff isn't going to be hurting, that's for sure. |
