I enjoyed Boycott. One thing that I did not know was that this boycott when on for a year. That is a very long time. I also thought it was deep in that people were bring arrested for not taking the bus. What the "F". Does anyone know if Rosa Parks husband had her back through this whole ordeal. I remember that he had issues in the beginning and I'm not sure if he was there with her at the end. But all in all I thought the movie was good.

I watch Boycott last weekend. I truly enjoyed it. I didn't realize all the people who were involved in the Boycott. Do you know when it is coming on again because I would like to tape it?

I watched it last week with my husband and son...afterwards, we regretted not video-taping it.

***It hit me hard, BAM!...A year is 365 days lonnggg...the boycott lasted over 380+ days!
Question---Why didn't our elementary, middle and high school teachers emphasize that or was it just the schools I attended? :confused

I am going to video tape it when it comes on again and create Lesson Plans for Elementary and Middle School Grade Level students and have them available for my many collegues who are in the teaching field.

Yeah its on now here, I'm taping it so I can have it. I want to show it to my little brother when he comes to visit me.

I enjoyed the Boycott movie....and I love and idolize Mrs. Rosa Louise McCauley Parks. Her husband did support her -- as she stood by his side when he was heavily involved in the NAACP and the Scottsboro boys case. She says in her book: " later I came to understand that he was always interested in and willing to work for things that would improve life for his race, his family, and himself." Also, she had been put off of the bus prior to the incident which started the Montgomery Bus Boycott. In 1943, Mrs. Parks boarded a bus which was very crowded in the rear and there were lots of empty seats in the front. She entered the bus from the front and went to the back. The driver told her to get off the bus and go to the back door and get on. She told him she was already on the bus and did not see the need of getting off and getting back on when people were standing in the stairwell. The bus driver told her that if she did not go through the back door, she would have to get off the bus - "my bus" he called it. He came to the back and grabbed her coat sleeve and was pulling her toward the front, in the meantime, she dropped her purse. Instead of bending over or stooping to pick it up, she sat right in one of the empty front seats to pick up her purse ( gotta love it!) The driver then told her, to get off his bus. She replied " I will get off". She further states that he looked so mad, that he looked like he was going to hit her and she said : " I know one thing, you better not hit me." She got off the bus and never wanted to be on that man's bus again. After that incident she made it a point of looking to see who was driving the bus before she got on.

I think they did an okay job matching the actor's faces with the actual people too... Martin and Coretta had that Martin and Coretta look about them... It was a great special.

I LOOOOVVVVEEEDDDD this show!!! I wanna read the book it was based on called "Daybreak of Freedom".

I suspect that some of you all are so young--meaning you were born either in late 1970's early 1980's that your parents were too young themselves to comprehend the whole issue.

Whereas, I'm sooooo old, that my folks were the ones that MARCHED with King and his collegues. My folks were the ones that experienced first hand what segregation was like. My folks were the ones that GOT sprayed by the water hoses, beaten down by the police batons and had dogs chasing after them. So, basically, I can ask my folks what was it like without difficulty.

I asked my mom and she said during her ordeal (she didn't get arrested for disobedience--but my dad did--that's a whole 'nother story), she told me stuff that I couldn't begin to fathom since I was a post-civil rights baby.

Whereas, most of you guys probably never seen overt, massive, full-on, outright racism with colored bathrooms, massive anti-bus picketing. Now, you all have enjoyed the fruits of affirmative action and are watching it being dismantled. So that's our battle we must fight.

You, waaay under 21 year olds outta ask your grandparents about it 'cuz they are probably my folks age or a little older and could tell you some stories... Write your grandparents whilst in college, they'll truly enjoy it and they may write you back! I have not been able to watch the entire show, but what I have seen is really good. To add to Diamon's little tidbit, I have read that a pregnant teenager refused to give up her seat a week earlier and the powers that be (was?) in Montgomery knew about it, but failed to 'back' her. They felt that she would not be a proper 'poster child' for the boycott. Rosa Parks was deamed much more suitable. I hate when folks try to protray her as 'just tired' that day. Her refusal was a strategic move.

I finally got to see the whole thing last night and I loved it. Should have taped it!!!

The music was really good too. I heard Sweet Honey in the Rock (I'm a big fan!) and a few other popular songs from the movement. I think they should make a soundtrack.
