Fame turned infamy
We gave Jermaine Jackson a lot of grief two weeks ago for defending his brother but it made me wonder…
Suppose you had a famous relative (entertainer, athlete, etc) and it was common knowledge that you were related to this person. Suppose this relative then gets caught up in a nasty arrest scandal, (i.e. Michael Jackson, OJ, R Kelly,) How do you think you’d change or handle the “shame” factor? Would you hang out less with your friends? Post less on GC? Start taking back roads to get places, grocery shop at midnight? Just curious because we’re generally among the most forgiving, yet most signifiying folks to walk the planet. |

I think I'd say what my mother says, "Yes, so and so is my (insert relation here). He/She will continue to be my (insert relation here). Then, I'd go on and say, "What he/she has done (if found guilty) is a shame. And end on the note "we all fall short". Then mention prayer, forgiveness, etc. etc. |
