Recruitment retreat

Lovely GCers I am in need of some good activities for my chapters recruitment retreat... my school is hold structured COB for up coming spring semester. Which means we are having an open house with all three chapters in attendence... and no bids may be extended until 4 days after that... BUT each chapter hold their own "invitation only" COB events all week, no party rotations or release figures or anything like that. My chapter has quite a few spaces to fill since we've got a big graduating class leaving this spring, so I'm thinking we're going to have real parties the week that no bids can be extended, then move to more informal true COB type events... BUT I need ideas about getting my chapter ready for this, I know we're going to review bumping and simple conversation no no's and skills and such... BUT is there anything fun or exciting that your chapter does at retreat that you find helpful or just fun to break up all the do's and dont's ??

I'm sorry, but what is bumping?

One thing the membership VP and president did at my chapter was, one time when we were having a meeting, they surprised us by walking in completely dressed up in the rush outfits we were going to have to wear, but overdressed. Too much makeup, crazy 80s styled hair, superhigh heels, tons of jewelery, the works. Then they did a little skit up front while the rest of the chapter was just cracking up seeing them like that. It's a hilarious little reminder to not overdo the makeup and such. Definitely made us all laugh and broke up the tension.

Little E--

Bumping is when another sister comes up to you while you are talking to a PNM and gets your attention. You introduce her to the PNM that you are talking to and then politely leave the conversation so that the new active will get a chance to talk to the PNM so that many sisters will be able to meet the PNM's. I hope that this helps.

Have a couple people play the rushees from hell...the girl who doesn't talk, the one who tells you how she likes to eat bugs, the one who is a quintuple legacy to another chapter on campus. The other sisters can find ways to deal with these situations.

It's fun, but also is useful in helping you think on your feet. :)

We also do the whole role playing part of recruitment. We have character cards that the older members are given so that we can help the new initates get aquainted with all that can be thrown at them during recruitment. Another character is one that all she wants to do is party with fraternities and that's why she want's to join a sorority.
