Commercials that make you cry
 

What kind of commercials make you cry? Is there one specific commercial? November 11 is Remembrance Day in Canada, where we remember those who've participated in wars (including those who lost their lives). Right before 11/11, there was a phone commercial where a 20-something guy calls his grandfather via cell phone back in Canada and tells Gramps that he's in France. Gramps asks him if "the girls were like I remembered" (or something to that extent) and how he used to love Paris. 20-something guy then tells his grandfather that he isn't in Paris, but in Dieppe (where a major battle was fought in WWII). As a history major, that commercial makes me tear up!!

never really seen a commercial that has made me cry............I've seen a few political ads in my day that have pissed me off.......or insurance companies using a fear tactic to sell flood/hurricane insurance that have pissed me off......the usual ones that are annoying as hell like the infamous "i'm gellin like magellan......want a melon?" and the local ones around here that make me laugh my ass off.........."handy man connection........we repair what your husband fixed........"

Hmm....

Yeah that commercial is a tear jerker for people who know what it means. It's interesting to be watching the Leafs and then that commercial comes on.... room almost always goes silent.

One commercial that makes me cry is one for Lotto 649.

There is an elderly woman with her grown up grandson and they are sitting in the airport waiting for her sister to arrive from China. She hasn't seen her sister in over 20 years.
So the grandson and grandmother are waiting and they see the sister and the run up and greet her and it's so sweet because of the reunion and then the grandson tell his grandmother to look and there you see all her family from China.
Because of winning the lottery, the grandson has flown every family member over from china for a reunion.

That commercial always makes me cry.

There was a Iams dog food commercial a few years ago that always made me cry. It started out with a little girl and her puppy bounding up a flight of stairs, and progressed through the years, both the girl and the dog aging. The last shot is of a young woman calling to the dog, who is now elderly (grey furs and all) and struggling to make it up the stairs. It made me cry because I knew that the dog was going to die (even though they obviously didn't show thatpart in the commercial.)

The day a commercial makes me cry is the day I need to go back on anti-depressants. :eek:

But, a commercial that is kind of sad, is the little doggy who couldn't walk down the stairs because he had arthritis. Not tear jerking worthy though.

the mastercard commercials about badger the dog and his many adventures. so cute!! it always makes me want to cry.

Me too!! Especially because they say something like "feeling at home when you are far away: priceless."

I think the one showing the little kids working and talks about how they are going to be the ones paying for the national deficit is sad too.

The Gap one where Carole King's daughter was singing and said "My first love is my mom" made me bawl. My mom passed away a few years ago and it reminded me of her.

I used to love the Disney one where the dad goes away on business and his son had packed his Mickey doll in his dad's suitcase... it was a 2 minute commercial, but it got me every time

i forget what it's for, but it's a bunch of different kids that talk about when they're grown up. the first lil girl says "pretty soon you'll be seeing me walk down the aisle." and she's in a bathing suit at a lake or something. and then a lil boy says "i'll be talking my kids to the places you've taken me" it's sad :(

kodak commercials. the old ones...with that song.
and sometimes, hallmark commercials.

not really cry, but there's a bank with a commercial out that makes me feel good- it's all these people doing nice things for other people. it's cute. citizen's bank maybe? it's like a man sharing his umbrella, and 2 guys getting out of seats on the bus for a pregnant lady. just plain cute.

There is a radio one for some jeweler... it is a guy saying things like, "I know her favorite colors are blue - baby blue and french blue, I know she only drinks ginger ale on airplanes, I know she reads magazines from back to front - I know she's the one, but I don't know the first thing about buying a diamond" - something along those lines. It always makes me want to cry because it is so cute and some of the quirks they list are ones that I thought only I had!
