Speed Dating??
Has anyone else tried this? What did u think of it??
I tried it when the USC Hillel sponsored speed dating my freshman year. It was kinda fun but I didn't make any matches or anything...oh wait maybe one....but nothing ever came of it |
I have never tried it, but it seems to be growing in popularity.
|
It was fun, the women were more fun than the men I met. I went out with two but nothing past a first date.
|
I think Oprah had a segment about it on her show last year... I could be wrong about it being on Oprah though, but I saw it somewhere on TV. I have never tried it, I think it would be fun just to experience it though.
|
I have never tried it, but I am not sure if I want to.
 |
Everyone I know who's tried it thought it was a positive experience, whether or not any dates came out of it.
|
What is it exactly?

No actually, it's kind of like a structured mixer - there are equal amounts of girls and guys and you talk to each one for 5-15 minutes. If you want to see any of them again you notify the coordinator. Then you find out who wants to see you again. |
Had to be a sorority girl that thought that up . . thats like bid matching from formal rush :p

This is an irreverant thought but I can just imagine them playing the "speed racer" remix at the mixer . . .
|
This must be awesome if the guy gets speed sex and finished in 37 seconds.
-Rudey --AWESOME! |
Oh is that considered fast lol ;)

I'd do it as long as I didn't get any stupid stalkerish types that thought you were in love with them because they had your phone number!
|
I have a few alumni sisters who've done it and had a lot of fun. One of them actually met a really great guy. They met last March, started talking and started dating in August.

Ressurecting an ancient thread because I did it two weeks ago...
ETA: If it is good enough for Miranda, it is good enough for me! Of 23 guys, I think I said I was interested in 9 of them, and I matched with 6 of them. Had a terrible date yesterday, a good one for lunch today, and three more to come (the 6th one never called). It was a Jewish singles event, and I think that is a key part of why it works. You have Jews looking for other Jews, as opposed to just a random room full of people. For the most part, though, there were quite a few unattractives. My favorite was the guy who bitched about the $5 he had to pay for parking. And yes, James, all I could think about was sorority rush...even down to the little notebooks where we were all writing about each other. |
