Would you be comfortable with this?

I'm just curious about what other people would think about this.

My boyfriend is an Art Comprehensive major so therefore he has to use models (men & women) in many of the various styles (watercolor, clay, ink, charcoal, etc) in and out of class. For the past year he has been researching and toying with the idea of doing the 1940's style of pin-up artwork. I've personally been the model for many of these (finally, a good reason to have curves!) and now he'll start using some of my girlfriends as models also.

Now here's the question, would you be comfortable with having your significant other do this on their class and free time?

yes, I would. Art is beauty, not porno. I would even poise nude for art (if they wanted me, and did not laugh)

I would have a problem with it if the modeling were outside of an art studio or classroom. I would also have a problem using my friends as models. I would feel uncomfortable. If that makes you uncomfortable, maybe he could use models from the art department.

Not with my friends....

PrincessPhiSig 12-07-2003 02:14 AM

I wouldn't be too comfortable with it as I am generally wary about many things. One, because my boyfriend would see my friends naked. Now, if your friends would make the perfect models for him, then I wouldn't want to hinder his work. I would just be concerned about that making for odd situations afterwards. And two, because it would be out of the studio. Now, if I would be there when he were painting them out of the studio, I would be much less wary. (Personally, I need peace of mind.)

Most of all though, you know your boyfriend the best. Make sure to talk to him if you have any concerns. Boys are happy when their girlfriends are to the point. :)

Amen.

If this bothers you, let him know. Personally, I don't see it being a huge problem. Like someone said before: This ain't porno -- it's art. If you have issues with this though, he'd have to be pretty hard-headed not to be understanding here.

As someone who took tons of visual arts classes in college and HS that required live models, nope. It doesn't bother me one bit. When you're drawing someone--and you're serious about what you're doing--there's no erotic content to it. None of the models I've had--and I've had HUNDREDS--have turned me on whatsoever.

I would be fine as long as the models weren't my freinds. I would feel funny if they were. Besides for that I'd be fine with it, it's art.

I would have no problems painting nude pictures of my girlfriends' hot friends. In the studio, in my home, in my bedroom . . wherever.

:D

I agree. I wouldn't want my boyfriend knowing what my friends look like naked! :p Nor would I pose for a friend's boyfriend. I've "modeled" before, but the art student was not dating any of my friends.

Shut up, James. :D

^^^ i agree w/ PnC! that would just make me feel weird and uneasy.... but that's just me.

if it makes you even the slightest bit uncomfortable it would be best to talk to your boyfriend about it first. :)

I wouldn't have a problem with my boyfriend painting nudes if this is what he studied/did for a living. Although I would feel uncomfortable if they were my friends he was painting...unless my friends modeled for the art department on a regular basis. If they didn't I'd wonder why he'd want to paint my friends instead of the models.

absolutuscchick 12-07-2003 10:19 PM

I would feel very uncomftorable if he was seeing my friends naked. There are quite a few girls out there. Why doesn't he use ones that arent your friends?? Check with the art department!!

Rio_Kohitsuji 12-08-2003 04:57 PM

Heh, okay, just to clarify some things, I'm completely fine with it :) He's done it for awhile now, before and while we're dating.

I was just wondering about if you had a S.O that did this. ;)

Oh, on the pin-up artwork, think about what was on WWII bombers, -that- artwork. I think some of you were think more Playboy style stuff :p

Oh, and yes, my girlfriends do model for him, but fully clothed or at least scantly clad.. :D

aphigirly 12-08-2003 06:40 PM

i would be suprised if my friends would feel comfortable posing for my boyfriend.....well if they were scantily clad.

i just think that i would feel uncomfortable posing for my friends' boyfriends scantily clad because most of my friends' boyfriends are also my friends too (we are one big happy group) and i hang out with them all the time. sure i would feel flattered, but i dont think i could do it scantily clad. but fully clothed is fine, hehe
