My score was
16/20

it said I got 16/20 but I believe there's a typo on the Reconstruction Question
|
Okay, I took that quiz, and I noticed a few errors.
First of all - there's no such thing as the RECONTRUCTION period in American history (question 20). The correct answer is Southern reconStruction! Also, it was the 15th amendment that gave formerly enslaved Africans the right to vote, not the 14th as indicated in the quiz. But then - it's BET. It's not like I expect much from them anyhow. So if it weren't for those two errors, I would have scored 20/20. |
16/20
there are some errors, but there were some things that i wasn't aware of. Jyhad |

I got a 15/20. That sucks, but I also wonder why the "Ultimate Black History" Quiz would be centered around slavery. Don't we always complain that history books, and discussions of our history in America, religate us to the roles of slaves? Anyway, there IS a typo where they mention "pratical education." It is supposed to be "practical education." |

But, isn't that sad? Without talking about those OTHER things that are wrong with BET, shouldn't their "Ultimate" Black History Quiz be tighter than that? What is that saying about our expectations for ourselves? |
Well, I scored 14. Pitiful score considering I'm a historian. However, as many stated, there were a couple of errors. The questions ranged from simplistic to inconsequential. And as someone stated, why do feel that slavery is our history in it's entirety. We have a rich history (and no, I'm not talking about that Kings and Queens mess!). While it is important for us to learn from the struggles of our ancestors and examine that peculiar institution, we can not harp on it.
@Sistermadly- You do not consider Reconstruction a period in history? |
Yes, ReconStruction was a period in history. In their quiz, they called it the Southern ReconTruction, and gave it as the correct answer.
Chaos: Yes, it is sad. But I gave up on BET as any sort of representation of black thought/black interests a long, long time ago. |

Gotcha...just clarifying. In an earlier post I thought you said that Reconstruction was not an era. I get you. I read that question and saw two answers listed as Southern Reconstruction (my thoughts, what's that?) |
