Santa Cruz frat boys off hook with school in koi heist

Santa Cruz frat boy off hook with school in koi heist Associated Press Santa Cruz - Around U-C Santa Cruz, its known as the case of the kidnapped koi. You might remember the hoo-ha on campus last May when some members of Delta Omega Chi were accused of abducting a koi named Midas from a campus pond, then killing and barbecuing it. Well --- yesterday, one of two frat members accused in the case got a bit of good news. Casey Loop learned the university has dropped disciplinary charges against him. However, Loop and Matthew Cox still face criminal charges in February. Both have pleaded innocent. The alleged fish fry happened while an M-T-V crew was in town filming at the frat house for a reality series. It was not known whether Cox was also off the hook with the university. Loop is hoping the decision means the criminal charges also will be tossed out. (Santa Cruz Sentinel) |
its kind of ironic that doc got in trouble for that, yet not for all the other hazing they did during the mtv taping?? i dont think i saw one show where the pledges werent hazed!!!!
|
heres how they got around that-
they claim that they don't haze because the pledges are "free to not participate" i still consider that hazing...just me, because i think that any pledge who didnt partcipate would probably get blackballed...their hell week was particularly amusing, nothing like a little public hazing to make the greek community look stupid and scare a few high school kids out of doing it next year--no wonder the santa cruz locals hate fraternities out there oh yea-one more thing-i think the reason they didnt get in trouble for hazing is that this is probably the first time UCSC is seeing the tapes of it-i dont think they get an advanced screening. edited to add the last paragraph |

Stupid maybe. If the administration doesn't do something about the hazing, I'm surprised that the local DA doesn't. Aren't Cali's hazing statutes pretty strong? |
