Look toward the Light

As we celebrate the founding of our beloved fraternity I find myself reflecting upon this year and assessing if I held high the light of Alpha. This year has been a period of growth as it should be and I have learned a great deal about the brotherhood. Through events of this year I have gained a greater understanding of myself and my calling.

While I have much to celebrate there are areas that I am not as proud. One area is the seemingly up and down again movement of this site. Clearly, this year has been one of differing opinions. Regardless of outcomes, I know that I'm a better person for I have defended the honor of Alpha and guarded the reputation of the brotherhood - - - of course all will not agree!

In spite of my failures the success of this year as a whole outweighs all other. To this end, I encourage each brother to look toward the light of Alpha. Lets move forward to answer the calling and purpose of a higher power. Let's rededicate ourselves to the aims that guide us.

May Fraternal Spirit Always Abide,

Professor

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, BRUHS!

As we celebrate Alpha Phi Alpha's 97th year, here are some suggestions for those who walk amongst the Pyramids...

Thank God Almighty for His gift of A-Phi-A! Call a Bruh! Grip a Bruh! Yell A-Phi-A! Uplift your community! Pay your dues! Re-read your History Book! Step with the bruhs! Inspire a future Alpha Man! Realize that nobody has better brotherhood! Wear your Alpha Pin! Pledge your support to your chapter! Always display Tenacity! Let your words be well thought of! Get risk-management certified! Give a shout-out to Annie Singleton! Call a younger bruh and share wisdom! Listen to that younger bruh's wisdom! Make "We Shall Overcome" a reality! Remember why you pledged! Cover up the Grip! Sing the Alpha Hymn with some bruhs! Sing the Sweetheart Song to your Sweetheart! Give your Sweetheart Yellow Roses! Celebrate the "Sons of Cornell"! Hug an AKA! Celebrate your brotherhood in the world's greatest frat! Restore your relationship with a bruh you have beef with! Go back to school! Remember that we were first and they are always watching! Decide what chapter projects you will lead/support! Pay your dues! Read the "Sphinx"! Register someone to vote! Hug your child! Mentor another child! Have demitasse! Never take a backwards step! Don't talk about it, be about it! Have your brother's back! Increase your chapter's community work by 15 percent! Devise a workable and acceptable plan to restore pledging! Extend yourself and bring a bruh back to the "House"! Plan to attend a national convention! Remind the Greeks that you are their Granddaddy! Pay your dues! Teach the college bruhs how to conduct business! Show the alumni bruhs that you know how to conduct business! Run the yard! Leave excuses to others! Remember the senior bruhs! Be worthy of the letters! Remember Alpha widows! Find out what Peas in Tubs are! Tell someone about the city where the streets are Black and Ole Gold!190000000006! ...Remember that Goodwill is the Monarch of this House!

"O Lord, may the true spirit of fraternity, rule our hearts, guide our thoughts and control our lives so that we may become, through Thee, Servants of All. Amen"

Happy Founder's Day

Happy Founder's Day Brothers all over

Let us never forget that the light we were give
Was a responisbility
To help shape the world
By Being servants of all
Though things may change
We still fight the good fight
Even on the coldest day
or the Blackest night

For our House
Should continue to have goodwill as it's Monarch
Remember to answer the tests of a man
And never forget that he is not heavy
That he is my brother

Never forget
That a Voteless People is a Hopeless People
And every young person should have the option
To Go to High School Go To College
and never leave a young man behind so he understands
That being a man and father
is truly a Project Alpha

And continue that love as promised
to a young lady who attended Howard
Never forget to be brotherly to every sister you run across
For a man is only as strong as the woman besides him
And the Lord blessed us to be closer to the strongest woman he could have created

Thanks to 7 men a vision began earlier than December 4th 1906 but it gained it's life 97 years ago today.
