VA Beach Spring Break?
My roommate and I are planning on going to VA Beach for spring break and were wondering if anyone had any good ideas for stuff to do in the area. We'd like to have some idea of what we're doing before we go down there!
thanks! |
I looooooooooooove Virginia Beach!!!
But, will it be warm by then? I don't think so. I went on Memorial Day weekend on year, and it was chilly and rainy. The following year I went in late July, and it was perfect. Anyway, whenever you go, my recommendations are to stay at a hotel on the beach and to definitely go jet-skiing!!! Your hotel concierge should have the name of the local place that rents jet-ski's. My boyfriend and I went one year and we literally cruised alongside dolphins. :D We stayed at the Holiday Inn Sun-Spree. It was very nice. I hear they have a newly renovated building too. Have fun!! |

There's a lot of outlet malls up and around there if you like shopping......we always stayed in the more private part called Sandbridge and rented a beach house. I dont remember doing too much there other than shopping and eating and being on the beach...........I think there may be a water park there I'm wanting to say there is but i'm not for sure, it wont be open march though most likely :)

Coming from someone who grew up there...
It ain't that warm in March! One of our worst blizzards came in March! |
Virginia Beach in the Summer is a wonderful idea. Virginia Beach for spring break is like playing Russian Roulette with your vacation, except that you have better odds with Russian Roulette.
|
I've stayed at the Tropicana and Holiday Inn... the Tropicana--I remember we nearly broke the elevator since so many of us crammed on, kinda sketchy.

Yes, the weather is iffy but if jharb's brother is putting them up, I say go for it. |
VA Beach is awesome!
It probably will be too cold to do much swimming in March, but if you have a place to stay it should be cool. There are plenty of things to do--shows, little parks and other attractions. I'm sure that you can go to the city website to request information. Also there are lots of interesting historical things in the area (if that's your idea of spring break fun... I'm a history dork! :p) like Colonial Williamsburg... also a big theme park there. |

Late March is usually the time of year that it starts hitting the low 60s. I used to think that was warm! :) I remember a water park down by the Marine Science Museum. I'd guess it's still there. Virginia Beach is thisclose to North Carolina too. So you can always do a day trip there. The Eastern Shore is pretty too. |
It was definately the blizzard of '93. We had three feet drifts in places. I was in fourth grade and some of the drifts came up to like my thighs. It was sweet!
|
Was there another one in '94? I definetely remember one my junior year just after I got my licensce. So that'd been very very late 93 or early 94.
|
It just occured to me there were definetely back to back winters with snow. I recall my brother busting me out of 10th grade English due to the snow. :D
