Greek Image looking up?

I was just wondering, is it me or does the Greek public image seem to be looking up lately? Has anyone checked out this Brookline University website for instance? It's a fictional storyline about a MA college and includes a rush story. I haven't read the books but just from the look of the website it turns out that contrary to my fears, it actually portrays the greek system in a fairly positive light. I also am very proud of the IFC for sucsessfully blocking the "frat house" movie. It seems like a lot of the hard work that GLOs have put in the last 10 years or so towards real change are starting to pay off. There's still a long ways to go but I thought that I would just express some positive feeling that I have experenced lately. Hey, maybe late night TV commercials might stop advertising "Sorority Girls gone wild" tapes of bikini clad spring break flashers soon. Who knows?

some thoughts along those lines...

I agree with you! I think things are looking up.

The Frat House movie was blocked mostly by HBO, because they discovered that the whole thing was a sham, and not a real documentary. (remember the hype surrounding the true story of The Blair Witch Project? Same kind of thing)

People will stop advertising and selling those "Sorority Girls Gone Wild" videos when sorority girls stop posing for them! The problem is not the source but the subjects. We all need to be aware that as members of the Greek community, our actions represent everyone collectively.

It really depends on what time frame your looking at things from. Our image is better now than last year? 10 years ago? I also believe things are getting better everyday, but all it takes is one article about hazing, drinking, etc. to make all our efforts seem futile.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Brookline University written by ariesrising who chats here?

Yeah, I saw the "sorority girls gone wild" commercial. Both disheartening and funny at the same time. *sigh*

yes, Brookline University is written by ariesrising.

She is going to Rush this September at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

Ok, um I checked out this "Brookline University" thing. Even if the sororities' names are supposed to be made up some of the names seem just a little too close to reality. There is Theta Alpha called "Theta" (Kappa Alpha Theta anyone???) known for being a rather exclusive blue blood legacy sorority (humm?) and Delta Gamma Rho (yup thin disguise of Delta Gamma) espessialy when it's girls are refered to as DG Rho's. Interestingly enough this house is known to be kind of a party house and hard to get into. There's also something like Pi Beta Xi or something very close to Pi Phi and a Chi Omega Beta's known as yup, you guessed it "Chi O". I don't really think that this is a big insult or anything (imitation is the sincerest form of flattery) but no points for originality Ariesrising. --

Seriously, how many of these girls do you think are in sororities. I mean there are plenty of adult mags/videos with titles like sorority secrets/sluts/etc. but I'm sure the stars aren't in sororities, and if they are, I would hope their org. gives them the boot!
