Okay, So, like, what's REALLY going on around here?
First, folks are saying that they HATE THEIR LINESISTERS then, others are saying that they are DISAPPOINTED in MEMBERSHIP . Could someone please tell me what the HECK (you know that is NOT what I am thinking)is going on around here?!!?!!? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif
Is this what Greeklife has become to some? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/confused.gif What is really going on? The future seems bleek for this "new school" crew! *shaking my head* |
it's truly a sad state of affairs. on the one hand, we're being sued to the point where we may not exist in the next 5 years and on the other hand we have people who just want to wear letters for show (pull more males/females, stepping, wearing 'nailia, being able to say "i am a ___") or for personal gain (networking, boost their resume with activities).
True enough we are 501(c)3 corporations, but we are SISTERHOODS & BROTHERHOODS FIRST...meaning you don't have to LIKE each other, but darn it come heck or high water, you're going to LOVE each other. |

It's like common sense--if you have a problem with someone, talk to them! Let them know how you feel and work it out! What's w/ all this "I don't like my sister/org, so how do I get out?" Huh? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/confused.gif I would NEVER think of leaving my WONDERFUL sorority cuz someone might have ticked me off or b/c someone has a different personality or whatever. That's so silly and childish. What do these people do when they have a job and they have to work w/ someone they don't like? Just quit the job? Uh, hello!...you learn to work w/ them! I guess some people just do not/will not get it http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif ------------------ The Peach and Black is where it's at! Zeta Sigma Chi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. "Diversity: Often perpetrated, never initiated" |
See, what we are failing to realize is that we can't possibly understand this chick (disappointed in membership) because we all chose the RIGHT choice (well there's only ONE choice, but you know http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif). We chose the right choice for us. There are people who just want to be Greek. Period. They know they want to be AKA's but they pledge Delta because there isn't an AKA chapter on campus. They really want to be a Delta, but they got rejected, so they pledge SGRho instead. (Examples, my sistas, just examples) Then they turn around and get mad because it's not what they expected. Well of course not, SILLY RABBITS!!! How could it be what you expected if it wasn't even what you wanted?????
Ok, but what tripped me out is this: This chile actually thinks she can move to a different part of the country and pledge another org. Now THAT is a trip. I can't even concern myself with the craziness. Because you know that's what it is. Straight cray-zee-ness!! |

it is a new day. there's such a sense of entitlement and "it's all about me" that it's sad. and for someone to come in here and call folks "hoes and b...s" is pathetic. our orgs. deserve much better than this new crop of people. folks need some REAL home-training and common sense. call me "old school". that's fine with me
|
Ladies,
Please don't let a few bad apples spoil the bunch. It must be disappointing to see the "all about me" attitude. But it does not speak for the vast majority of SERIOUS sisterfriends. |

you will never be able to please everyone, but you should at least respect and expect to be respected. There is so much more to say on this topic but I did not even go read the post yet ... maybe I will have more to say. peace yall!! Oh and prospectiverushee no offense but there is NO such thing as FOUNDING members of a chapter ...there is only one set of founders, all else are charter members. And I don't think being a charter member would make me feel any different about my Sorority then I do now. |

That maybe true to some extent. But the bottomline is when you are having issues/drama/probs--whatever--w/ members of your org, you HAVE to work them out! You can't let that stuff get you to the point of calling folks B's and H's! That's what I'm talking about. Otherwise, you get folks like sickof--/pretty-- talking about how they can't stand so-and-so or whatever. That is just plain silly! LadyAKA, In my organization, although I did in fact charter a chapter, our sorority refers to all charter members as "Founders". We actually call the Founders of our sorority something different so that there is no confusion about whether someone is a sorority Founder or a chapter Founder http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
LadyAKA,
No offense was taken. Even though I think I know a lot about the greek system(being the non-greek I am), I still have a lot to learn. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif That's why I read the boards to learn new stuff. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Thank you for pointing out the correct terminology to me so the next time I'm talking I won't be saying the wrong thing |
On the really, real Soror and fellow sorority sisters, you really get this "ME, INCORPORATED" attitude from a lot of girls. It's like "What can you do for me". Rather than "why don't you check out our programs, community services and websites" before you ask those kinds of questions.
And for Sorors, you KNOW how pissed off I've been lately with my tea and all!!! Hey, check out "AKA PALACE " at collegeclub.com. I really got some great ideas from my younger Sorors which was my, shall I say, chamomile... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif And serious sisterfriends, I'm not talking 'bout you. We can tell the seriousssss interests and we know the "double-cross-overs", too--As for those little babes, I'll pray for ya... 'Cuz ya know you need Jesus in your heart first and foremost... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/cool.gif [This message has been edited by AKA_Monet (edited March 02, 2001).] |
