Computer Shorthand

To educate the computer impaired (that's me!), please explain those abbreviations. I know or have been able to figure out most, and some have been explained already.

This one has me stumped though: ETA.

THANKS!!!!!

"Edited to Add"?? :confused:

ztawinthropgirl 12-01-2003 01:44 PM

ETA means Edited To Add. What's stumped me is the GDI abbreviation. I know it means someone that's not affiliated with any GLO but what do the letters stand for?

MSKKG 12-01-2003 01:53 PM

I knew some of my fellow GCers would come through for me--thanks so much!

Well, that's the PC version. You would have to break a Commandment to use the real term.

GLO = Greek Lettered Organization
BGLO = Black Greek Lettered Organization

The first time I saw those acronyms, I was completely confused. I thought GLO was Gay and Lesbian Organization, and BGLO was Bisexual, Gay, and Lesbian Organization. I couldn't figure out why this type of organization would be so often dicsussed in comparisson to other groups. I also couldn't understand why the gay and lesbian orgs discriminated against the bisexuals, so that there was a separate category for groups that included bisexuals as well as gays and lesbians.....

Needless to say, things made much more sense once the acronyms were explained to me. :)
