Songs
On Thanksgiving we were saying grace, and I started thinking about the Tri Delta Grace Song.
Problem was, I couldn't get passed one line. Can anyone else? Father in Heaven we pray Bless thee our love Keep our Tri Delt ideal Pure as thee above and then I forgot. Anyone else know the rest? Or have other favorite songs or chants even?? |
"Bless thee our daily bread, bless our lives through
Grateful we come, O Lord, grateful to you." It's funny -- I was trying to remember the words last night and for the longest time I could only remember the last two lines. Our chapter is kind of limited on songs. During rush we sing (I have no clue whether or not these are the correct titles; I'm guessing): "D E L T A" "Ba Doom Ba Doom" And on Pref night "Pass It On," "Candle on the Water" and "Welcome In" (I think the first two are pretty standard but I don't know how many chapters do "Welcome In" or even if it's a Tri Delta song) For party songs we only know "Drink Beer," "My Trusty Trident" and "Take Your Date Around the Corner." And the only cheer we know is "I am a T." So I stole an old songbook from the 1980s and I'm going to see if I can learn any of the songs our chapter used to know back then, because there used to be lots more. Everybody's favorite rush song is "Ba Doom Ba Doom." My favorite ritual song is "Under the Moon." One song that I really wish I knew the melody to is the Tri Delta engagement song: As day's gold light fades into the night, And is softened by shades of blue; When silver stars first wink into sight, Of the crescent moon that is new; My thoughts go back to the time we met, To the times we have in store; As through life we go, there is one thing I know, I could never love you more. I think the music is somewhere in the songbook I borrowed so hopefully I'll know it pretty soon. |
"Mmm Mmm My Sisters" was big in my chapter. I love "Pass It On" and "The Pearl Song." For Pref we used "Remeber Me This Way" by Jordan Hill (from the Casper movie), at the end of every formal we got in a circle with our arms around each other and belted that song.
For chants we used "I Am A T", "T-T-T-R-I" and "D With An E." |
sugar and spice,
my chapter has been looking for a wedding song for tridelt forever so if you find one, could you post it? Especially since it will be time for me (and my tridelt beidesmaids and guests) to know it soon hopefully (fingers crossed for by the end of the year:D ) |
One of my favorite things, well most things Tri-Delta are my favorites, is our songs. Heather, we totally need to get educated on all the music invovled, particularly the cheers/chants.
I catch myself all the time singing the " I'M A T, I'M A T-R-I.." chant. I love it so much, but I want to know MORE! What other cheers do your chapters do? Anyone? Bueller? |

I just wanted to say how beautiful I think those lyrics are. So beautiful! Ok, back to your normal thread... :) |

D-D-D with an E L-L-L with a T D with an E L with a T Go Tri Delt! or T-T-T-R-I D-E-L-T-A T-R-I D-E-L-T-A Go Tri Delt! This one is something one of our cheerleader sisters made up last year. It's from A League of Our Own: I am a T-R-I D-E-L-T-A We come from places near and far We are the members of the (insert chapter name here) chapter We're all for one! We're one for all! We are Tri Delta. |

And Betsy, we definitely need some more songs! |
One of my favorite songs since joining my chapter this fall has been "Rugged but Right." It's a really fun one to do for serenade's and such.
We just came out to tell you that we're rugged but right The good Tri Delta sisters are a'singin' tonight Hopin' that you'll love us just like we all love you And hopin' that you'll love the silver, gold, and blue We've got the Tri Delt spirit that will never die There's nothing like the good old life in Delta Tri We're the dashing, daring, Delta darlings saying goodnight We just came out to tell you that we're rugged but right! We may be Delta lassies, boys, but what do we care? We've got the well-built chassis and the do-or-die hair We've go the hips that sank the ships in France and Spain and Peru And if you're like Napolean, we're your Waterloo... I like those fifty minute intermissions in your V-8 I'd like to stay out later but I've got a late date Our motto is meet 'em and greet 'em and love 'em and leave 'em and *UH* break 'em in right We just came out to tell you that we're rugged but right That, and Trusty Trident, as far as songs go. I only know one cheer other than "I am a T": Hoorah. Hoorah for Delta, Delta Tri! Hoorah for Delta, she'll never die! Hoorah for Delta, Delta Tri! Hoorah for Delta, she'll never die! T-R-I, Delta Tri, will you be one till you die? T-R-I D-E-L-T-A, Tri Delts best in every way! Don't try the others, Tri Delt! |

Has anyone heard the...
My sorority has a first name Its D-e-l-t-a My sorority has two other names Their D-e-l-t-a So if you feel the need to chill call *** **** (we added our tele#) 'cause gentleman prefer to say the date a d-e-l-t-a (to the tune of the Oscar Meyer song!) its silly but its a hit here! |
Okay, my favorite song was always "Pink Pajamas". It is kind of silly, but fun to sing when serananding.
We wear our pink pajamas in the summer when it's hot We wear our flannel nighties in the winter when it's not and sometimes in the springtime and sometimes in the fall we jump right into bed with nothing on at all. Here's to Delta Delta Delta Here's to Delta Delta Delta Here's to Delta Delta Delta In the spring time and the fall with nothing on at all Don't you wish that you could be there (x3) In the spring time and the fall with nothing on at all. |
We always use Cherish by Madonna during recruitment, with Tri-Delta words, of course. It's a huge hit and even girls who go other directions will come to us after recruitment to tell us how much they love it! Also, one of our girls is REALLY into writing new cheers and songs so we always have something exciting to learn for recruitment! Since I'm a Gamma Pi, one of my favorites has to be
"Apple, Pecan, Lemon Merangue They're all good but we've got game! Gamma Pi, Gamma Pi We're the girls of Delta Tri" And there's always Tri Delta Tri "Delta Delta Delta Who the heck are we? We are the girls of the Deltas three Go Delta! Delta Tri Delta Tri Tri Delta Tri Hey!" ~Sorry, I was Music Chair last year so I get REALLY excited about songs and cheers. In fact, I've been known to cheer my way to classes on occasion!~ |
Burned in my Brain
This is the reason I can't remember where I put my car keys....my brain is still full of things like rush songs. How about these?
Oh every Tri-Delt girl is quite a treat. She weighs a hundred pounds from head to feet;) She's got that smile, that wile, that winning way And Every where you go you recognize her and you say Now there's a girl I'd like to know She's got that good old Tri-Delta pep and go And just to know her is to love her. She's a good old Tri-Delta girl! Ba-doom Ba-doom Tri-Delta Ba-doom Ba-doom Tri Delta Ba doom Ba doom Tri-Delta Boom Boom Boom Boom Delta DD (descant) Tri-Delta and you'll go the right way Tri-Delta and you're here to stay Tri-Delta and you will see What a happy bunch of girls live in Delta DD And to the tune of Oklahoma... OOOOooooh Why don't you come along and be a part of us? We're the Tri- Delt gals, We're always pals And we never, ever, ever fuss! Ohhhhhhhh Darn I can't remember the second verse. Something about We've got parties and games Beauties and brains. And da da dumm de dum de dah. So when you saaaay Delta Delta Delta! Heeeey Delta Delta Delta You'd make a fine Tri-Delta Tri-Delta, OK! And Oh Mr. Moon, Moon Shining Tri-Delt moon Oh won't you please shine down on me? I've got the pine tree Silver, gold, and blue I've the pansies and the Deltas three Here comes Poseidon with his Trident in hand Showing Sister Deltas to the promised land Oh Mr. Moon, Moon Shining Tri-Delt moon Oh won't you keep on shining (Talking 'bout your shining) Won't you please shine down on me? There was a beautiful version of Georgia On My Mind that we used to have sung at the skit round Delta, Tri- Delta The whole day through Just an old sweet song keeps Delta on my mind Tri-Delta on my mind.... You get the idea. It was really lovely. And the candlelight song which might be nice as the wedding song someone mentioned. The tune is an old 50's or 40's song and the real title is some kind of moon but I can't remember what kind Tri-Delta Moon Keep a-shining tonight on the one I love. Watching him from above Tri-Delta moon Keep him from harm, till I hold him again in my loving arms Thrill to his many charms Tri-Delta moon This night fades into lifetime His lips whisper my name And I know that despite time I'll always feel the same Tell him I"m true And I'll love him no matter what he may do He knows and so do you Tri-Delta moon. Can't you just see Doris Day on the balcony at night? If it was candlelight for an engagement we'd sing that song over and over and over. It lost a little of it's charm by the third go 'round but it was always a tradition. |
