Resume Help

Okay, I'm updating my resume for my applications to the senior honoraries here at UNL.

I'm having trouble putting a couple of things into "neat" categories.

Right now I have the standard Education, Work experience, Extracurricular Activities, and Volunteer experiences.

I just added Co-Curricular Activities to describe my taking a leadership class that I am now becoming a Teaching Assistant for, I figured that it was a combination of an actual class but also more extracurricular to an extent. Does this sound like a good decision?

Also, I recently created, organized, planned, and facilitated the first ever UNL Student Advisory Board Conference. This conference was supposed to bring together the Student Advisory Board Executive members from the boards representing UNL's 8 colleges and the Division of General studies. It went really well, but I'm not sure what category it fits into on my resume, as it was done through some of my extracurricular activites, but I don't want it to be buried in there. Any thoughts?

I would list the training class under education. I went abroad one summer on a school program, but I still gave it its own bullet-point under "Education" because it was of note.

I would put that conference thingy under extracurriculars.

Do you have or need a section for accomplishments/awards? I would definitely put the conference creation under that.

I agree, or consider doing more of a functional resume. In your functional resume your topics would include things like leadership, project management (which the conference thing could fit under), etc. This will give someone looking at your resume a better idea of the types of things you have done. You can still have space for education and work experience, (this is really considered a combo in resume-speak)but it would be minor compared to the functional parts of your resume.
