SHSU Alpha Phi Omega Research
 

Hi. I’m doing some research into the history of Sam Houston State University (Huntsville, Texas) and am trying to identify some of the chapters that were once on campus but have since closed. One such group was Alpha Phi Omega. I am curious if there is anyone here that might be able to pass along the following information:

1. Date chartered.
2. Date disbanded (possibly 1992).
3. Chapter name.
4. Location/address of house(s)

I don’t know what sort of audience I’ll get on these boards but I thought I’d at least ask.

Alpha Phi Omega is a national co-ed service fraternity. We are not permitted to have an official house.

Okay – scratch the housing question. The list I inherited simply said “lived on campus,” but failed to point out who and when. I figured this might be the case for a few of the groups; I guess this reveals my near-complete ignorance in matters of fraternities and sororities.

Oh well.

There is an effort to bring Alpha Phi Omega back to Sam Houston State University. If you want I can send you personal email on the contact on campus.

Yup. Went and got out my Winter/Spring 93 T&T. Theta Rho @ SHSU and Omega Psi at Jackson State U (Mississippi) were revoked at that convention.

Interesting reading the convention report. A world away...
