Cat in the Hat
I did a search and don't think anyone has posted on this movie.
I liked it but not enough to see it again or buy the video..like I did for Monsters, Nemo, etc. I was disappointed there wasn't more rhyming..after all, what would Dr. S's books be without the rhymes?? I did like Thing 1 and Thing 2 who talk like the Addams Family's Thing. I was disappointed in some of the more-PG items...guess I thought it should be more Disney-ish... Mike Meyers was very good..kept reminding me of Danny Kaye and Gene Wilder. At times, the commercial reminders (Ford Focus, Universal Studio plugs, etc) were blatant. On a scale of 1-5 green eggs, I'd give it a 3.76 |
My daughters really want me to take them to see this during their Thanksgiving break this week but I am trying to put them off in the hopes that my dad will take them when we go to Pittsburgh later in the week.
To be honest, I never did much like the Cat in the Hat. I always thought there was something menacing about how he wouldn't leave the kids' house! I know, I know, I'm weird :p |
I wanted to take my older kids to see Haunted Mansion this weekend while my husband took the younger ones to Cat in the Hat but so far, all I've heard from the media and friends is how much the Cat in the Hat stunk. I didn't want it to stink! There was so much hype put into it and I wanted it to be wonderful!

ok, me and the boy went to see it the other nite.....honestly, i thought it was going to be a lot more funny than it was. it was a kid movie, but then there were some parts where i was like, "wait a minute, lil 5-yr-old.....hold your ears".....think the "dirty ho" comment....while funny, it was also somewhat....austin powers-esque. i saw a lot of his other characters in the cat and that was weird. he was funny, but it just wasn't at all what it was built up to be.
best scene in the movie: the pin-yata (whoa, don't know how to spell this, so we're talkin soundin it out.....SORRY! :o ) |
Saw it, thought it was a bit of a stinker. Oh well.

I think that when they dress up people as cartoon characters, the result is ALWAYS frightening. Whenever I see that Cat in the Hat character, I seriously get the creeps big time. It looks dumb anyway -- didn't the studios learn after Scooby Doo that this wasn't a good idea?

I finally saw it this weekend on the Demand channel; cute movie
The funniest part was the pinata. What was with all the lime green Ford Focus? Glad I did not go see it at the movie theater. |
That movie was awful.

I didn't see it, and have no desire to.
I LOVE Dr. Seuss, but the previews of it didn't look even remotely Dr. Suess-esque. I'll pass. |
