Dr. Laura Schlessinger

Muslim Groups Demand Apology from Dr. Laura

By Michael Starr
New York Post

Nov. 20--An Islamic group is demanding that radio host Dr. Laura Schlessinger apologize - for calling Muslims "murderers" on her nationally syndicated show.

On Monday, a caller asked Schlessinger whether her teenage daughter should accompany her "moral themes" class on a field trip to a local mosque to learn "how Muslims are treated" in America. "This is a class on morals. What is the point of going to a mosque?" Schlessinger asked. "You're joking of course . . . I think you ought to stand up against this class and this teacher.

"This is despicable," Schlessinger continued. "You tell [the teacher] you are willing to go to the mosque only if it is one that has done its best to route out terrorists in its midst . . . " Schlessinger then said she was "horrified" that the woman would allow her daughter, a Catholic High School student, to visit the mosque. "I am so sick and tired of all the Arab-American groups whining and complaining about some kind of treatment . . . What culture and what religion were all the murderers of 9/11?

"They murdered us," Schlessinger said. "That's the culture you want your daughter to learn about?"

"It's very disturbing," Ibrahim Hooper of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) told The Post. "Basically what she does is paint all American Muslims as potential terrorists or supporters of terrorists. "That's a very disturbing attitude coming from someone who's listened to by millions of people each week."

Schlessinger did not respond immediately to calls from The Post.

I actually LOVE Dr. Laura's program. She says what she feels regardless of its popular or not! Many people feel that way..few are bold enough to say it!

There are lots of people who say what they feel.
Dr. Phil, Howard Stern, Oprah (remeber the beef incident)

I still think she's insane and she gives bad advice

I think she's an absolute crazy woman.

And on top of that, I am sick to death of this attitude about Muslims - not to defend the extremist ones, or the people responsible for 9/11 - but in all honesty, there are murderers of ALL races and colors.

Many serial murderers have been white - does that mean everyone should hate all white people? For heavens sake.

Well I guess when Muslim countries stop sending their prime ministers to give hateful antisemitic speeches, stop funding terrorists and their institutions, stop using undeniable hate speech against Christian and Jewish infidels then maybe people like Dr. Laura will be exposed as empty and hateful - a product of the past.

People should not have something forced on them. Religiously I am not allowed to set foot in any other religious institution. And also nobody should be forced to be more "sensitive". If parents or a child don't agree, then so be it. Accept it. They haven't done anything wrong.

I'm just frightened that people can't trust their own judgement about child rearing and have to ask a radio talk-show host their opinion. I don't think my mom called Paul Harvey and asked if it was a good idea to put me in accelerated classes. :p

You're right people should not be forced, but if this mother didn't think it was a good idea she should have told her child not to go on the field trip. instead, this mother can't make her own decisions and has to ask a radio-talk show host for advice. I agree with 33girl.

Well the good news about living in a country as great as this is that SHE has the right to say what she wants and YOU have the right to change the station!!

Asking for advice isn't asking someone to make a decision for you.

Aww...dont make a dark skinned girl blush now..:D

She proves there are extremists on both sides. That's all. It's not really irresponsible what she's doing. She's not inciting people towards violence. She's just giving advice after she was asked for it. I don't even see where anyone gets off being offended?

Tolerance doesn't mean that we have to accept everyone. It means we tolerate their existance. Until Schlessinger straps a bomb on her back and goes after a Mosque or says that doing so is a good idea on her show, I don't see what the problem is.

Well said Ktsnake.

These days...people are becoming INtolerant of anyone that is actually opinionated and is not afraid to speak up about it.
