In different areas of the South, it is known by different names. In N.O., some poeple call it a huck-a-buck. It is also called a frozen cup or an iceberg. So, I think those should get credit also.

candygirl 11-20-2003 03:41 PM

In Chicago we call it an icie cup. I gave myself credit for it.:D

In Memphis we call it a freeze cup. I gave myself credit also. Either I'm real ghetto or I'm in touch with my ghetto side because I got an almost perfect score.

For the Color Purple question, the answer could have also been..."It's gon rain on yo head."

ykimber 11-22-2003 08:53 PM

I believe there could be some alternate answers to the following questions:
2. If you didn't have a dustpan, what would you use back in the day? A album cover, a shoe box lid

3. "Who in the hell left the ______ _______." door open

9. What is the most famous line in The Color Purple?
(If you don't know what The Color Purple is you automatically fail!)
You sho is UGLY!!!!

smiley21 11-23-2003 09:48 AM

i got a 30. i was never raised on this stuff

Sahara 11-24-2003 03:19 AM

I got a 60

I wasn't raised in the South, so I gave the Philly answer: water ice from the corner store

for #19, my mom told us to go to the bathroom before we left the house for any reason. of course, me & my hard-headed brother didn't always listen.

lovelyivy84 11-24-2003 11:36 AM

Most of these questions are not really for people from my generation or geographical area, but even I know what the answers are because I talk to black people. It works.

I have seen this before so I won't retake it as I already knew most of the answers, but I THINK that last time I took it I got an 80.

I give myself credit for the icie thing though. I am not from the south, how the heck would I know what they call a frozen anything??

ShiningStar83 11-24-2003 01:09 PM

I got an 80, but if album cover is acceptable for number 2, then I got an 85 :)

I also put "You shooooooo is ugly" for number 9

Where I'm from we call #10 a bee-bop, but we still got it from the candy lady :D

And I didn't even attempt numbers 15 and 16 (before my time I guess) *shrugs*

candygirl 11-24-2003 11:32 PM

I noticed after I posted the test that some questions could have multiple answers. I don't know where it originated from, I just thought it was something fun to do.

Shining Star "a bee-bop"?! I've never heard of that one. Do you know why its called a bee-bop?

There are a lot of classic lines from the Color Purple, I can see why people would think of different lines.

aurora_borealis we used a wire coat hanger too. I just remember pliers more than anything because that was the T.V. I had to bring with me to college.

ShiningStar83 11-27-2003 03:09 AM

I don't know why they call it a bee-bop, but that's what they call them
*smh @ me for still making and eating them*

25 :o

Okay, if 8 is soul, then where does "Peace, love, and hairgrease" come from?

I think this is a generational thing too.

I thought the saying was "Love, Peace, and Hairgrease" (in that order so it rhymes)

I can't remember what rapper coined that term in the late 80s/early 90's

Peace, Love, and Soul was from Soul Train a la Don.... I remember watching that FAITHFULLY on Saturday mornings! *lol*

BTW, anyone from Detroit remember "The New Dance Show" *lol*
