If You Could Sing.....
...which singer's voice would come out of your mouth? And Why?
I was in spin class listening to Mary J. Blige today, and I felt her voice was most reflective of how I would like to sound if I could sing....gritty, soulful, forceful, but still feminine. Ok everyone, weigh in! :) |
Virtual Violet,
I ask myself the same question all the time. If I could sing, I would want India Arie's voice. It is so powerful and soulful. "God Is Real", "Interested", and "The Truth" always leave me with a desire to sing like her. |
I would want Sade's sexy and classy!
|
Amel Larrieux
Her music gives you a feel of Jazz, Soul, R&B and more. The lady can really sing. |
Ella Fitzgerald
NO singer has ever made me feel an emotion like that ever. Creamy and smooth when it needs to be but with a depth to it that all that scatting can't hide. India.Arie is pretty high up there on the list too though. When I am feeling young though I like Brandy, lol. Her voice is really youthful to me, and sometimes I can relate to songs that have a little bit more uncertainty, and more of a searching feeling to them, like hers. |
Good topic . . . I love the voices of quite a few but hands down, I choose:
Patti LaBelle & Tamala Mann (has starred in all of Tyler Perry's Madea plays) but is the soloist on Kirk Franklin's "Now Behold the Lamb". Both of their voices have bought tears to my eyes and stir something deep within. |
Brian McKnight.
Cause when he sings, good things happen. ...good lookin' out, B. |
If I could sing..sorry...if I could sang :-)
I would love to sound like Tamia!! That girls voice is so smooth and sexy...make the men come-a-running;) |
who would I sould like...hmmm
I would have to say that if I could SANG I would really like to sound like Whitney Houston.....OLD Whitney not drugged up Whitney. Back in the days of "You give good love", "I'm your baby tonight", "I will always love you", that crucial star spangled banner she did at the Olympics...she was on point back then and had so much power and feeling behind her notes that alot of her songs gave me chills when she got to that long held out note......but anyway...I digress....if I could SANG I would want to sound like her..again I reiterate...OLD Whitney.

I also like Blu Cantrelle (sp?) |
It's a toss up between (Older singer) Billie Holiday, and (younger) Alicia Keys - Her voice is just really great to me!!
Erratic |
I do sing....
I would love to have a voice that is part Karen Clark-Sheard, Kim Burrell and Lecresia Campbell (all gospel). Then I would be able to have a 10-octave range, do growls runs and licks effortlessly and have a jazzy sound. |
I Love To Sing!
I would like to sound like Minnie Ripperton becuase I love her soft voice and her high pitches. I would also like to sound like Desiree Coleman-Jackson (Momma I Want To Sing) from back in the 80's. When I do sing, or shall I say the 4 times I sang in public the song I did was "Loving You" by my Soror the Late Minnie Ripperton! And yes......I can hit those notes!!! :D |
I can sing a little, but if I had my choice, I would LOVE to have Ashanti's voice :D
Just kidding. I actually would like to have Christina Aguilera's voice because it's so strong and powerful. She has an excellent range. A close runner up would be pre-crack Whitty Hutton. That heffa can (could) sang her hindparts off. |
I would want to have the voice of Deborah Cox with just a little hint of Mary J. Blige. Deborah has the actual vocal talent and range, but Mary can just make you feel what she feels. You can feel Mary's pain and her joy. If only I could sing . . . .
