Alum section on website

What would you want to see underan alum section on your chapter's website? The girls want me to build an alum page, and I'm a little unsure what to include. Help please. :)

alum web page

activities to which alums are invited
pictures from their days in Phi Chi including the first year
Since Phi Chi is small, perhaps a list of all members by year? Maybe with permission?
Just ideas...

add to that...

general stuff going on on campus & the Greek system
family lines if you have them

Add to that....

If you can password protect a portion of the site, you might want to put contact information for alum (or maybe a contact person for each year) so that they can find each other...

And recruitment schedules, so alum know when the next class is coming in...

Her GLO is local...they don't have to deal with a national web policy.

Perhaps use email addresses for contact information instead of phone numbers / addresses?

A news letter sent out is mostly for the benefit of the Alums. So center it around Alums.

Current events and updates of the Chapter.

Pick one or two Alums to give an update about.

List Marriages/Births along with the name and affiliation of the wife/Husband.

Calendar of the Semesters events if room.

List someone who is in charge of keeping the email addresses. Any changes of email or addres moves should be funneled through one person. You may need someone with the savvy to be able to keep a running list for address changes in a file somewhere.

Missing Alums.

While Pictures are fun, they can also add to the cost of printing.

Try to do at least one a Semester. If can afford more so be it.

Most Alums no mater how far they are removed thirst for any information to try to keep abreast of what the Chapter and other Alums are doing.

By doing this, it will help you when you need help instead of just asking when in need.

alumni website

Any chapter that tries to engage alumni back to the chapter should utilize a section of their website to alumni matters.

I work with Fraternity Management Group and virtually insist that separate websites are created for alumni (and parent) purposes. Each site will link to/fro the undergraduate sites, but are managed by myself or a chapter alum.

Here's an example: http://www.gamma-rho.org

The value of sites like this have become overwhelmingly successful. I couldn't imagine managing alumni programming or even fundraising services without them.

it would be nice of my chapter to include an alum section that we could add to, add pics of when we joined or sisters we don't see much of (because they moved or whatnot), and updates and such. they don't really think of us much...
yeah, that would be nice indeed.

make sure you alums are going to contribute. I had a lot of alumna complain they were underrepresented on the website, but every time i add a section to the site, i don't receive updates, pictures, etc. So the updates i have are about a year old and no pictures. Most of the things that you would put on a website for alum is already on the site (upcoming events, rush events, number in the current pledge class, officer contact information, etc).
it's up to you.
