Canada to have 2 PMs!!??

It will be interesting to see how things go with Martin as the new party leader, but Chretien technically still Prime Minister.

Do you think Martin will be a good PM? Do think the uniting of the right will lead to yet another Liberal victory?

After a decade of Chretien, I am ready for a change, but I like the Liberal party and Martin did a good job to get the ball rolling in the financial area. He may even get us at of debt if we keep posting surpluses...

I haven't been here long enough to form an opinion on Martin v. Chretien, but I will say that this could prove to be a very interesting time for Canada, politically speaking.

I personally don't think that Martin taking over from Chretien will make much of a difference to the Liberal party and it's future; nor will the new united right. Until the other parties can put forward a leader that the public trusts (or at least doesn't dislike), the Liberals will win again.

I've never been a Liberal fan and I would rather see them out.
But since it doesn't look like their going anywhere...(ever) I think Paul Martin will be fine. No better. No worse.

Ahhh... the essence of Canadian politics:

1. Vote for the guy/girl you hate the least.....

-or-

2. Go with the devil you know.......

can some one please explain Canadian Politics to me? No one ever did.

Scroll down to the "A bit about government and politics" section - it helped me before I moved up here.

The only thing wrong with that page is it hasn't been updated.

I noticed it listed the Progressiv Conservatives and the Alliance as major political parties. After their merger, it is just The Conservative party.

Sistermadly 11-16-2003 02:33 PM

I know, but it gives a pretty good idea of the structure of Canadian politics anyhow.

No, it's an excellent page. I enjoyed reading it myself.
Also some of the Canadianism I haven't heard before (especially the east and west coast Canadianisms)
